Q:

watch out

I was in the garage, because my nieghbor bitches me out if he hears my gun, was trying to do a chrony test on some 6 rings, had a 4×4 I was aiming at, missed it completely twice, both rounds went into my heat and air exchanger, I,m hoping the ol” lady doesn’t notice. Everything is working still thank GOD, but the chrony didn’t I guess it was the lighting. Oh well, nobodys perfect.

Hey I know how you feel. I was shooting in the garage at a 1″ plank and the pellets were going through the plank out the siding into the back yard 😯

Same here exactly. Stinkin’ 1 inch planks ain’t worth a damn! 😆

Seeing the thru-holes in my steel garage door was truly a WTF moment. 😯

Luckily, I only took a couple shots before I noticed… if I was hunkered down on my usual lead-slinging mission, I would’ve completely ruined the damn door.

😆

Hey I know how you feel. I was shooting in the garage at a 1″ plank and the pellets were going through the plank out the siding into the back yard 😯 When I finally seen the holes in my siding I sh!t ! Not because the sideing had holes in but because I had no idea where the lead was going. Good thing my back yard was an open field.

Nothing special. I have a regular white 100 watt light over my pool table and the chrony goes right under it somewhat. Get the exact same reading outside with the light screens and the sun.

Your chrony won’t work with fluorescent lights. Been there and failed myself.
I made a holder with two long skinny incandescent lights. Works perfect.

Thanks BlueJay, I forgot all about those things, I was thinking regular lights without the sky screens would work.

Thanks very good info. I was wonderring about the lighting, I got no readings , what do you do to get your chrony to work in the garage?

Dude, for 1 when i chrony my airguns in my garage i put the backstop up close behind the chrony. And i don’t aim, if you are in your garage just put the muzzle a little ways away from the front of the Chrony and the back stop about 1 foot behind it. Then center up the bore over the chrony and fire. Trying to aim a gun with such a high mounting height can be tricky especially at close range.

Also, shooting those UBBER HEAVY SLUGS IN YOUR GARAGE IS GONNA DO SOME SERIOUS DAMAGE. They can go through a lot of heavy backstop material. Especially if you continue to hit the same area over and over again.

The funny thing is I have a laser and never thought about using it ,I just used the scope once and then tryied pointing the barrel at it, then I had to go into quick repair and check mode.

If it’s because of the range being too close, do you have the 4×4 horizontal? If yes, stand it up vertical.

Did you miss because of the short range and the scope offset?

I remember watching a friend of mine drill a penalty target (no-shoot) in the head repeatedly as he engaged a long range target with his AR-15 at a 3-gun match. His scope was a carry handle mount so it sat really high (like on an AF) and his line of sight didn’t see the no-shoot, but his bbl was clearly obscured by it.

No wonder he gripes..if you cant hit a 4×4.. I mean how bad of a shot are you??Most of the ones around here have 44″ mudders about 12 inches of lift and look like bigfoot..

Excellent point!

While I’d never take cheap shots at a stranger’s accuracy, I suggest that if the goal is to really hit such a big auto, maybe such shooters with ‘accuracy issues’ should try shooting from inside it?

I mean the best way to not miss ‘the broad side of a barn’ is to shoot from inside the barn….or so I’ve found.

Get a laser. 😉
