Q:

went target shooting

today. had a lot of flyers i could see the pellet tumbling thru my optics. so when i got home i got out the scales my crosman premiers checked 14.3 to 13.9 grains. now i checked some diana h points all were within 1 tenth . so how many of u sort pellets by weight or visually inspect your pellets? is it worth the time? is 4 tenths to much variation? or did i just have a brain fart?

ill give some kodiaks a shot next time!

You’d hear a crack if it was over the sound barrier.

One thing you may want want to try though is get a heavier pellet like kodiaks and try them out. If you are shooting close to the sound barrier that may throw it off as well. So that is one thing to try is just a heavier pellet.

yes i have a chrony(on my 3rd one) kep getting holes in em. wouldnt i hear a loud crack if super sonic? p.s. forgot to say my gun of choice today was the webly raider.

Do you have a chrony? Maybe shooting too fast and the supersonic is throwing them off? Try turning the power down and trying again. 😀

no shroud! also some of the holes were oblong indicating the tumbling. i could tell the moment they left the barrel they were flyers , kind of like an arrow in flight.

When you say you could see the pellet tumbling, are you sure you weren’t just seeing light bounce off at one instant? Look at the holes in the paper, if they are normal it’s ok, but if they are wide or long then it probably is tumbling.

Don’t know about pellet variation, but do you have a shroud on the gun? If so, take it off and try again. I screwed up mine one time and it was shooting horribly. So that would be the first thing to check. A pellet off by a little may throw accuracy off, but it wouldn’t tumble in the air.
