Q:

What are the draw backs to using Co2?

I know that it doesn’t work as well in the cold. What else?

As with paintball, velocity drops quickly and temperature is greatly affected by it. And to think of it it costs way more to fill CO2 than a scuba tank. Usually between $4-$7–at least where I live. And one fill lasts you forever depending on how high of power you have your gun set to. I love mine. I had about 20 or so shots and it’s still going on strong. I have the power set at 4-5 only. I think it’s more power than I need to do the shooting I need as these bushy tails are not in a range my Talon SS is incapable of shooting.

Haven’t noticed any accuracy problems.,,,slower by a good bit, but if there is a difference in group size at 25yards, would be a small fraction. Velocity is consistent over long-long strings of shots, so if liquid in the valve is a common problem, I’ve not seen it.

Cold…really nearly useless when the temperature gets into the lower 50’s. have to pace your shooting, and 10 seconds might be a bit too quick. Talon SS’s (or any version with a fully shrouded barrel) cool down faster as the gas (still cold) gets to bath the barrel and shroud inside the shroud.

The “power adjuster” doesn’t do a whole lot. Can strangle it into being a bit slower down at “0” or “1” but by “4” or “5” its about as fast as it can go…going past tht makes a bit more noise, but the extra co2 isn’t doing much to drive the pellet.

If you tip the gun down the valve can quickly fill with liquid. That is why in a correct paintball set up there is a tube point up inside the tank to keep the liquid out.

You only want to shoot gas. So do no carry your gun barrel down.

I frequently shoot CO2 for plinking sessions and indoors. no problem as long as you know its limitations. Cheap to fill, tons of shots. Too many shots close together does change poi due to pressure/velocity drop.

Oh man that sounds like a NO GO then. Damn it Jim! Oh well scrap that idea.

Angle, that’s a question I have wondered a few times.
I suppose I could add an anti-siphon tube to my CO2 tanks.

Aside from the temp/pressure relationship, the other concern I have is that CO2 is a pretty good solvent with high permeability through membranes. It will strip off oils, and leak past O-rings.

Rapid shooting strings that make the barrel cool down, do make me wonder about turning my barrel into a condensation magnet.

Adam is the gun sensitive to which angle your shooting at? Not worried about rapid shots (as in paint ball) my Condor won’t see more than one shot every ten seconds. Edit:Thanks for the reply Adam.

The pressure varies with temperature.

It is a liquid that changes to a gas.

It will fill the valve with liquid and give inconsistent shots.

If you shoot to many in rapid succession the velocity will drop.
