What caliper to use?

What caliper do you use to measure the TH setting. I have digital one that I bought at Harbor Freight but the tips of the caliper with which you measure don’t accuratly fit between TH and the base. I see you guys post pretty accurate numbers like 0.88 or 0.86.

Anatoliy, feeler gauges make measuring the tophat much easier and more accurate. You can get these at just about any auto parts store. They have numbers printed on them for the measurements, or you can measure the gauges with your caliper if you’d like so you don’t have to add up the stack.

use a set of feeler guages or drill bits and paper shims etc then measure the stack.

A set of number drills is handy for this kinda stuff.
