What got you interested in Guns?
Eds wife here. Just wanting to know what got everyone interested in Guns! I thought I would join the clan to get to know a little more about my husbands passion! I love him so and I just wanted to learn more about what he likes..

I guess I was born with the love of all things that sling a projectile. I have everything from blowguns to potato launchers to airguns and firearms. I’ve also always loved the outdoors and it went hand in hand.
My dad would come home with dead stuff and I’d start asking questions. I got my first BB gun at about 6 or 7. I was taught how to use it and use it safetly. At that age I was wondering off into the pasture alone and I would bring home everything I killed. Ocassionally dad and I would shoot airguns in the back yard together. I got a better airgun by age 10 and after a few months, I RARELY missed a shot. Shooting was one thing I excelled at, and I kept doing it.
Now that I am older it’s harder to get away with roaming peoples property and shooting so many critters… so I don’t shoot as well as I used to, nor do I get the opportunity to spend as much time hunting or shooting. BUT, the passion for the outdoors and guns will never go away!
Sounds like you guys have fun together 80 grit. I would love to go into the marines and be a sniper but my hubby kinda frowns on it. It would teach me a lot about guns, and I would be a better shot then him!! LOL. I am hoping to learn alot about guns. Ed can teach me alot, but it’s nice to hear from other ppl to. I know ed enjoys guns and I would like to share that with him. I guess it would bring us closer cause of that.

Sorry to hear about your dog, but when the range is Hot, it is Hot. That means nothing down range except what your shooting at. Hard way to learn that lesson, at least he will live.
I was always into bb guns as a kid. My uncle was a competition shooter with handguns and shotguns and he used to give me lots of bb and pellet guns. I went into the Marine Corps and shot an M-16 for the first time. I was pretty good with it, shot a 238 out of 250. Nowadays I shoot only airguns.
Ironically, my wife is into shooting as well. She was introduced to it in the Coast Guard. She always brags about how she trained “war games” with the seals here in FL. She is quite the shot. The other day she almost out shot me with my BSA Scorpion. Almost that is. She enjoys shooting at the range with her girlfriend who is also a pretty good shot.
Airguns are lots of fun…fun for the whole family, but they should be respected just like a real gun. Welcome and enjoy your new Hobby!
When I was a kid I had tons of fun with my Crosman BB gun but as I got older and bought a car got a job, etc. I forgot all about it. I got married and my wifes father is all into firearms but a disability keeps him from getting out to the range as much as he’d like so he got into airguns so he could shoot in his backyard. One year for my B-day he bought me a Beeman springer so I could shoot with him when I visit. At first I kinda chuckled thinking I was too old for a “BB gun” but after a day of fun plinking I’ve been hooked ever since. I work in a machine shop and can’t leave anything alone so this is a great hobby for a tinkerer as I enjoy modifying as much as shooting. I appreciate the airguns for the fact that I can shoot in the yard, and fire off 500 rounds for less than $20.
Guess it’s true what they say, if when a kid your parents keep you from something then you will do it when you get older. Guess it worked out to your advantage anyway, cause you do something you enjoy and now you share it with your son! How great. Ed got our daughter a bb gun and she likes it. Guess it’s time to get our son one. He’s only one though, we’ll give him two years. lol. Thanks for the dog joke, lol. I can say I never liked guns. I was always afraid of them. Ed taught me that you can load a gun, say it on the table and it will never go off unless someone pulls the trigger . Guns don’t kill ppl, ppl kill ppl..He’s got me to shoot and I enjoy it now. Still not ready for the shot gun, but I shot his mussel loader awhile back it it was kinda neat. Guess we all have a little of it in us!! 😀
As a kid my mom would not let me have a gun. So when I became a teenager I bought my own and hid it from her. Then when I moved out I bought more got into firearms, reloading and had a bunch over the years. I have always had airguns in the mix and enjoy them the most.
They are clean, easy to shoot and I can shoot at home, unless the dog is running about 😛 . With the advent of the internet I found even more airguns to buy and a lot of weird guys who liked them as well.
I now shoot with my son and manage this nut house.
