What happens when you regulate an AF rifle?
About a week ago, a member on here posted a thread regarding regulators for the AF rifles. He wanted information regarding articles on performance with a regulated AF rifle. So I’ll do even better. I have a regulated AF Condor. The regulator I’m using is the dual gauge regulator from PCP Tunes. I’m going to go over my set up, then show the results from a 20 shot string. The shot string was logged last night using a Caldwell Chronograph. SO here goes:
My platform is a .25 AF Condor SS. I’ve converted it from the 18″ barrel to the 24″ (heavy) barrel. I did this because I wanted the power, accuracy, and efficiency of the longer barrel. You WILL get more FPS and FPE with a longer barrel. This isn’t speculation or theory. It’s FACT!
I also have a high flow top hat (also from PCP tunes), and a 95 gram hammer with slap mod from Talon Tunes. I’m using the stock hammer spring. I’ve replaced the stock air tank with a .5L carbon fiber tank from Talon Tunes. The tank is an upgrade I HIGHLY recommend. It weighs 1/3 the weight of the AF tank, and it shortens your LOP by 3/4″. I have a 6″ TT suppressor. This was necessary since the longer barrel forced me to use the stock baffle system that comes on the Condor SS platform. I also have a custom Mad Dog Ultima (1 piece) stock that Doug Russel customized to fit the extended length LOP of the regulator and shape of the CF air tank from TT.
I aired my tank to 250 BAR (3625 psi). I have the regulator set at 160 BAR (2320 psi). I shot 20 rounds. The muzzle was 1.5′ from the chrony machine. The power wheel was set at 6/8 (exactly 1/2 of the power available utilizing the power wheel). I have a 2mm O-ring under the top hat. My gun is a TACK DRIVER! From the bench, I have sub MOA groups at 100 yards with it. I have 3/8″ groups at 50 yards. So here are the results:

Wanted to update my last post regarding a mistake I made in the info. The sub MOA groups are at 50 yards. 3/8″, hole in hole. At 100 yards I average about 1 MOA. I’m target shooting in an ideal environment. No wind. Also, I’m sorting pellets. All shots are taken from the bench.
