Yeah mine numbers are with a stock valve that I got from Synopsys. I took it apart and did a better smooth transition in the hole on the brass spring nut. I also cut half of the nut off so it wasn’t so big. I popped out the stem and took a small file to the hole and smoothed it out a little. Don’t know if one of Tonys valves would do any better with this lower pressure reg. As far as tophat goes, all mine are set the same at around .102. That is what it takes to make the breech fit snug against the tophat when closed.
Interesting write up RC, your finish job on the hacked out stock looks pretty sweet!!! You could have moved the sensor on your chrony just a little, this can cause it to read a bit different, if it appears to be reading low the sensors are further apart, which would go along with it getting hit by a pellet… 😉
Check out a post on the yellow with regards to comparing things in two different scopes… Not sure it applies to what you did but it certainly causes some stir with comparative issues between different scopes.
He measured an object at a set distance with different scopes all set to the same magnification and got some wacky results. Must have something to do with the magnification ranges on the specific scopes. The one with the most mag makes things larger, while less mag makes the object smaller. He tested a couple other scopes but one had a different mil dot scale. I pulled the ones that were the same scale.
Bushnel 3200 12x = 5 Dots
7-21×40
Hawke SideWinder
6-24×56 12x = 6.67 Dots
BSA FFL
4-14×44 12x = 4.5 Dots
I suspect my Chrony may be tits up.
I am using a reged 69 cuin bottle that once I fill to 4500 PSI and fill the guages and reg, puts it about 3800 PSI. For this test I put the reg on 25oo for the Condor and at 2500 and 2750 for the AA 410.
I just got back from my range, I put a target at 50 yards and one at 98yards (to get out of the weeds), and did a drop test and compared it to the chrony readings and to Chairgun.
I shot to verify zero at 50 yards and then just switched to 98 yards, there was a slight side to side breeze but no headwind or tailwind to mess with drop, flags are 10 feet apart
Now bear in mind, I do have a 15 % incline downhill, but with a 50 yard zero, with the 25 Condor and Kings and resetting the pressure to 2500 PSI, I was only 7.5 inches low at 98 yards, and shot two 1.5 inch groups, one holding right on to get the drop and one using the SA 12 reticle and holding on where the group hand landed.
I tried my little AA S 410 and the same exercise, I dropped 11.5 inches and put 9 shots into 1.5 inches.
I repeated the drop test twice and got the same results, or I should say, I compared it to the mildot on the 410 which was the third mildot at 15 power and used that to shoot the 9 shot group, which was just about .75 inches high at 98 yards, which puts it right on at 100 yards. The Condor has a 6x24x56 Hawke with a SR12 and I used the mark indicated by the drop and shot a 1.5 inch group at where is indicated the drop to be.

Thing is the chrony set up at 25 feet gave me 950 for the 25 Kings and 830 for the 18.1 Exacts in the 410.
Chairgun tells me I need to be doing 1100 FPS with the Kings to get that drop, and 920 to get the 11.5 inches I got with the 410.
Correcting for velocity at the muzzle gets no where close to where Chairgun says it should be.
My rear screen has had the top of it eroding away from too low shots, so perhaps it is time to get a new screen. I never use the defuser set up, prefering to just place it in the shade when I shoot.
So yeah your right, apparently my velocity readings are low.
BTW I am using a RL valve and have not moved the top hat from the original setting due to lack of a correct allen wrench.
Morale of the story is field testing is the difinitive answer.

970 on 2750 psi? Not to question you but that seems kinda low for that much pressure. I’m getting that on 1800 psi reg. You will never get 920 to 960 with 38 gr with a 2500 reg. Stock setup with 2500 reg will get 31 gr around 900 fps. If you want 38 gr that high you are going to have to go with a 4500 to maybe 3000 psi reg and 4500 tank. Don’t know if anybody has tried it yet.
oh yah about how many more shots do u get from a condor if the regs at 2500 and power wheel at 10, stock top hat, .25cal , 24inch barrel, filled to 3000psi, shooting 38.5 grain eun jins???????
Interesting.
I have the regulated 69 cuin Pygmy tank regulated to 2750 that I use on both my Condor 25 and my AA S410.
Shot count is in the hundreds with both.
I get 970 with 25 Kings in the Condor and 920 with 18.1 JSB’s in the AA S410.
I guess I need to turn it down to see what it does at a lower pressure.
My AA S410 is getting very high velocities for what it is, but running just off the tank, it starts dropping 2/3’s of the way thru the 2nd magazine, so perhaps it was tweaked by a prior owner.

has any one used the etacreg with .25 kodiacs 31 grain?with a 24 in barrel? If so what are the numbers
k. ill try that 2500 sounds good
I use a .25 19″ barrel with JSB kings 25gr. With a 2500 psi reg it puts them out at 900fps.
I reckon you want a 2500 output reg.
caliber is .25, grain 38.5, desired fps 920fps to 960fps
What caliber and what fps do you want the pellet you are going to use go.
oh… well like if i have it set at 2000 will decrease power much????
suppose it depends on how much power you want and how many shots you want to get.

Syn,
Like I said, there is no substitute for field testing period and that thread proves the point.
To make things worse of course I have two different makes of scopes. Chairgun does not work well with the 5×15 3200 Tactical which is true mildot at 15 power. By what Bill Day found it would not work well with any of them.
I have the Hawk BRC prgram, and after this mornings run with the Condor, I set the velocity at 1100FPS and instantly it corborated my findings, when I had been trying to get that SA 12 reticle to work with drop figures I had at 970 FPS it just did not track correctly.
But that program is for their reticles, for the mildot it lists a “generic mildot”, which does not seem to work for anything I have.
Dan Mcvey worked on my Ranger 45 and found that testing with bullets I sent him, his readings were about 50 FPS slower than mine, but then the bulletrs I sent him were pure lead as opposed to the 20-1 I had been using, so apples and oranges.
He has the best set up I have heard of, he has two hi end chronographs set up in a windless room and compares the two for each shot and he shoots the same way each time and never takes the chronographs down, he just leaves them there.
Mcvey claims all chronies read differently, and I think he is correct.
For my 3200 5×15 Tacticfal, I will just do the field shooting, record the drop and make my own midlot chart, I mean WTF it is only a crosshair with 4 dots on it and the yardages recorded.
I have to say, I am beginning to be a fan of that SA12 reticle, now that I know how fast the 25 Kings are going.
I just have a little 2×7 Burris Fulfield with the balistic plex reticle on the Ranger 45. With a 70 yard zero, I am on the 3rd hash mark down at a 100 yards on 7 power, on 2 power it hits right on the bottom duplex at 150 yards.
Again field testing to get those figures, but it is not hard to do if you have the range to shoot it on. For me I was lucky to have a fresh 1 inch snow fall while up on the mountain this year. I just ranged snow covered rocks, held right on, shot then adjusted the power ring until the hash mark was on and read the power setting.
For my 5×15 3200, I will set targets at 25,50,60,70,80,90,100 yards. Shoot at all of them by holding right on, then sharpie the groups where they dropped, go back to the shooting position, and record where they landed on a midlot crosshair drawing. I already have the info for 25,50,80 and 100.
