Q:

What is the best combination barrel length.

I’m ordering a new 25 cal. Condor from Tony but first I need to decide on what length of barrel would be the best. with a shroud.
I dont want the rifle to be real long. Bad for hunting in the brush.
But the longer it is the more power it has. So ?
How much longer does the shroud make the barrel ? I’m thinking the barrel would be good at around 21 ” or so.
What do you think guys. ?

You really don’t have to be concerned with the loss of power if you go down to a 12 inch barrel. I have a Tony Tuned .25 Condor with a 12 inch barrel and I am getting right at 920 fps with 58 fpe shooting 31 gr Kodiaks.. My gun is darn good out to 40 to 45 yds and that is as far as I really test it. No need to test further as anything that we are hunting is going to be within that range. I have had a 24 inch barrel Condor and they are a bit cumbersome in tight areas.. I would never go back to the 48 inch OAL Condor now that I have had a 33 inch .25 Condor in my hands and that is where it is going to stay.. You will just cherish a 12 inch .25 Condor for sure.

.25 12″ Barrel Condor…

DW, is the 12″ the longest that will fit INSIDE the frame? Do you need that little bit extra you have on the end with the shiny cap or is that bling? Is yours quieted down? I would like to eventually order a barrel and shroud too but want it as short as the frame is now or no longer than stock 24″ barreled gun is now. The shorter the better. Any info tips etc. much appreciated. TIA

.25 24″ Barrel Condor..

Yep! 7250.00 😯 Probably one of Bob’s. Mine generally only go up to 3000.00 or so!

I was looking at your knife website.
Beautiful knives. Are those prices correct or is there a decimal point missing.

.25 12″ Barrel Condor…

.25 24″ Barrel Condor..

I went a similar route to get a balance of power (60fpe) and portability.

18 inch .25 barrel and 7 inch shroud gave me a 40 inches OAL.

I ordered a .25 caliber … and chose an 18″ barrel length … just seems about right to me πŸ™‚

Thank guys.
Those are all great answers. I think 18″ seem to be the way to go.

Dude, I am like the guy posted before me as I don’t have the .25 calibver yet either. But ever since putting a 12″ in my Condor and making it a SS, I feared the lack of power as you mentioned… I love the 12″ and just how much more fun the rifle is now as a 36″ OAL Condor SS and far as the power, dude I can bust the sound barrier with 28 gr. EJ’s without any trouble. So basically I have never seen the lost power I am sure to have had happen with the shorter barrel…

I would go with the 12″ barrel in a .25 caliber in a heart beat dude, and will when I get a .25 barrel for my Condor… I just love how much quicker the rifle is to hunt with now. Before my Condor with AirHog the OAL was 45″ and while it was way quite, it was like swinging the gunship around broadside before taking the shot. I will go for the short OAL ever time for now on and I don’t want anything over 40″ over all… Just find the power you need elsewhere dude. That or buy a rimfire or a 22 Hornet centerfire LOL… Goodluck on your quest!!!

I don’t have any .25 caliber barrels yet, but I do have various length barrels in .22 for my Condor. Stalking with a shrouded 24″ is like trying to swing a telephone pole. I would recommend the shortest barrel that suits your purpose. If the majority of your hunting is on foot at less than 35-45 yards and consists of small game (birds, squirrels, etc.) 12″ is sufficient. If your looking to hit larger targets (racoons, fox, etc.) or hunt from a fixed position 18″ is the way to go IMHO. Anything over 18″ + shroud gets cumbersome in the woods. Nine out of ten times I head for the woods I use 12″… but the endless quest for power will probably push me to get an 18″ in .25 for the few times I go out for fox or badgers. I’d really be interested in seeing chrony/fpe data for 18″ .25 caliber… Xmas is comin’ and I’ve been very good.

I think an 18″ barrel with a shroud will suit you fine.

Mine comes in at around 42″ overall length and it perfect for field work.
