Q:

What rifle?

Looking at possible getting a new rifle but it would be replacing my .22 Talon. Here is what I want:
1) good trigger
2) regular stock (the AF design feels weird offhand and doesn’t balance well)
3) .22-35 ft lbs plus or minus a few
.25-45 ft lbs plus or minus a few
4) High or decent shot count (at least 20-25 but would like 40 in a 15-20 fps spread)
5) $1000 or under complete minus a scope
6) No safe queens! Need a rifle that can be shot in all weather.
7) Shroud (included in the $1000)
8)Accurate! Accurate! Accurate! Out to 100+yards

What rifle fits this discription best? Can a BSA Lonestar do what I ask?

I might just see what I can do with my Talon first. It has things I don’t like but many many that I do.

Jeff,

I would recommend an Air Arms. Three choices:

1. S500 (single shot)
2. S510 (10 shot)
3. S510 carbine (10 shot)

I can’t recommend these highly enough. On a calm day you can expect 1″ groups at 100+ yards if you have a decent scope and do your part. I can routinely do this with my power set at 75%. I can get 30-35 shots with no change in POI at this range. That’s filling to 180 bar and using 18.1 JSB’s.(.22) I have the single shot and I am amazed every time I shoot it. I typically shoot at 67 yards and no target stands a chance. Not even a fly!

The single shot is under $800 at Pyramyd and the multi is under $1000.

I can highly recommend the s500/510. This rifle is mindblowingly accurate with enough power. Around 25-30 shots/fill. I recently sold mine to buy mu Condor. I will definitely get one again. At 100m I could do sub 1″ groups at will. Definitely a rifle to consider.

Ugh..man just bought a Talon SS from the for sale section. Awesome deal! PM me details and pictures please…still interested

I have a lonestar that i’m willing to part with…if you put a synthetic stock you would be styling…it has a 23.5 in .22 barrel…get loads of shots and im selling it cheap….like Tofazfu showed insanely accurate

Haha yeah I have been eyeing them but would have to sell my entire airgun collection to get one! 🙁 😆

I have and will consider the AirArms

all of the things you want is on 1 rifle : daystate air wolf or the new air ranger but its not for 1000$ 😆 😆 😆

Been out of the loop for a while. MadDog stock? Where? How much?

Do you think a Condor valve can be set up to push an 18g JSB at an average of about 900-920 fps for about 40 shots in an 18 inch barrel? Or 25.4g JSBs in the high 800s in .25 from an 18 inch barrel with about 40 shots?

If I could do that I still have the trigger to fix. Not a bad trigger but would like it to be a little lighter and more crisp while still being safe. I have done the over travel screw mod already. Softer springs?

Had a Lonestar once..actually bought it from you! Not sure why I sold it! Great rifle!

What about a Career 2 707?

Just getting ready to recommend a BSA Lonestar. Steve in LA just bought the 25 version and i had the 22 version. Mine came to me hot at 40 FPE. It was shooting Kodiaks at 990 FPS for the 1st shot. It was too much power for such a little airtube. So i detuned her to shoot 15.9 gr JSB exacts around 930-940 fps. This setting gave me more shoots and the same great accuracy. AOA has them in both calibers for 395 BUCKS

Kodiaks at 990-980-970-960-950 fps

JSB Exacts at 940—– fps

That was until i saw that you want 40 shots. U really need a good bottle gun for a shot count like that and still be able to reach out to 100 yards. But if you can settle on 20-25 a 30 FPE BSA might suit you. 40 shots and supreme accuracy at 100 yards all for under 1000 buck is pretty tough unless i’m forgetting one (i sure could be)

Why not get a MadDog stock, a Condor valve/tank combo with a hammer weight and a 25 cal barrel for your Talon. Then you could have several rifles in one.

Having made a few stocks for my TalonSS I can say it’s a whole different rifle with a nice stock… You can even get creative and make a cheek rest to screw to the stock.

Having the Condor valve and tank will get you much power for 22 and 25 caliber pellets.

If you want all 8 options expect to spend more than $1k…

I’d do an EdGun in 22 if not redoing the Talon…
