What’s in making a barrel?
So, this is something I’ve always wondered. You always hear about how tony’s barrels are so accurate and such, (which they are) and how someone else’s kit might not be as accurate. You order the blanks from lothar walther, with rifling in them.
So, my question is, what is it that makes one person’s cutting down a barrel more or less accurate than anothers?

OK. If the crown of the barrel was left untouched then the accuracy POTENTIAL of all LW barrels IS equal, but then enter the fitment of the barrel bushings (consistency in POI), quality of machining on the breech end (bad breech oring seal effects accuracy), etc.
While the accuracy of the barrel may be the same across the board, consistency is not universal or easy to achieve..
I could be wrong and somebody yell if I am, but doesnt Tony just turn down the breech end of the barrel for the hammer and breech and leave the crown end as shipped from LW? If thats the case then I dont see how anything he does on that end changes the barrels accuracy one way or the other.
Hacksaw and a file is all you need.
several variables in final accuracy, which are dependent on the skill of the machinist:
Barrel Crown
Barrel bushings
Quality of work
bore centerline
an error in any one of the above can mean inaccuracy or accurate but point of aim wayyy off. Tony’s work is top notch.
