Q:

What’s the best way to quiet the hammer slap ?

Hi , I know there are ways to quiet the hammer slap on a condor SS .25 cal , but what way is the best way to do it ? Is there an easy fix that is reliable ? If so how do you do it ? Also do you lose any performance by quieting the hammer slap ? …rob

I bought a pack of 10 x M18 self-adhesive Neoprene washers (in the UK) for under £2 and they stick very well to the back of the breech slide. They won’t last as long as an o ring but, at the price, that’s OK by me.

I’m pretty sure NP1, a urethane sealer and adhesive will hold the neoprene washer on the hammer but I haven’t tried it yet. NP1 is a industrial sealer. I have used it on many things. The only problem I ever had was using it as a car roof drip rail sealer and it shrank and the paint cracked in the channel. I cover my plywood deer stands with rpanel metal that was flat. The place that forms it just sheared me what sizes I wanted and I screwed and glued it with NP1. You can’t pull it apart once it is dry. Course delrin is not metal. I might even try to just wipe a coating of it on the delrin and try it without the washer.

Yes. Tony does make a hammer slap mod!

KnifeMaker

Does tony sell a mod that would quiet the hammer slap so I do not have to worry about the washer coming off ?

When posting pictures check family friendly so the porn crap doesn’t happen looking into new picture client for the site

Sooner or later it will come off. Nothing really sticks to Delrin good.

I used a thin (maybe 1/16″?) 1″ diameter washer; super-glue was easy and seems to be holding fine.

Don’t mean to poach the question but I’m working on quieting down my condor. So my question is what type of glue to use and size of washer (thickness, diameter etc)

It’s easy to remove the breech and glue a thin neoprene washer on the hammer side (with one edge trimmed). No machining needed and really quiets hammer-slap down.

Hey Doug,

Did you attach the porn site to your picture or is it just tagging along for a ride?

A 90 d o ring on the hammer. If there is any loss it can be much and I don’t think would be noticed in a condor under normal power. I have made 170 fpe in .25, 200 fpe in .257, and 290 fpe in .308 and all have the same style hammer.

I have never even changed out the o ring and I’m using a 13 lb spring in .257 and .308. Stock is around 4 lbs.
