What’s up with the AF scuba tank adapter
I connected it to my tank, all I get is blow by, and no air in the tank.
Please point me in the right direction.
Do I need a new fill adapter if so, which one?

I have to thank this forum. I received my SS about a month ago and immediately sent the pump back for a refund because of the consensus here. I managed to pick up a steel 100cuft 3500psi pre-owned tank at my dive shop for the same money, $180. The tank has 20 years left on the clock and had passed its hydro and inspection December 2009.

Here’s what happens. When I open the valve on the tank it starts to fill the AF tank, but there is alot of wasted air not going into the AF tank. Also, the needle on the guage goes up to 2000psi and then drops.
Am I filling it wrong?
I’m so freaking frustrated right now, I’m questioning myself about getting into PCP’s.

damn it i knew that this would happen to me too… 👿 👿 but no worries yet im off to the hardware store for silicon and hopefully new o-rings for the K-valve if not then its off to the dive shop…oh and my POS AF hand pump quit …again…time to rebuild me thinks 👿
The dive shop told me my scuba adapter clamp was leaking in several places. They could only git it up to 2000 psi. They said to get it fixed as they don’t want to even try to fill it again leaking that bad.
That was my initial fill so I just finished off with the AF pump that I since have replacced with a Hill.
When I told AF about the badly leaking scuba adapter clamp they said I could tighten the gauge or replace the Teflon tape and tighten it. Since, I discovered the o-rings but haven’t been back to the dive shop to check it out.
I think the salt air gets to some of the AF accessories. To bad all the accessories aren’t made in USA away from the mid Pacific salt spray. I had rust problems in the screws of a tri-bar also.

PS. Don’t get frustrated, this bump in the road is worth it, when you have your setup running you’ll be glad you invested the time and money.
Make sure the bleed valve screw is closed. Big knob across from the pressure gauge. Turn clockwise, snug. open tank valve very slowly, once 2800 to 3000 psi., close tank valve and open bleed valve screw, can’t remove tank until bleed valve screw is opened.
The fill clamp nut that the fill adapter screws into also has 2 orings, these leaked. I had to take the nut out and use divers silicon on the orings to stop the leak. Also put some divers silicon on the oring on the scuba tank k-valve?
If the pressure gauge always stops at 2000 psi the gauge is bad. My fill clamp gauge was bad from the factory, and the bleed valve screw was missing? Called Airforce and they sent me a new bleed valve screw. They also said return fill clamp to repair defective gauge under warranty, I couldn’t wait and replaced the gauge myself.
My fill clamp/adapter was a lemon from the get-go? Never give up. The TAG members got me straightened out and they will help you also.

Starting from the bottle throughout the fill adapter.
1 o-ring seating between the valve and bottle to seal air inside the bottle. you should not messing around with this o-ring, unless you changing the valve. Make sure the o-ring is there. This o-ring is part of the bottle.
Second o-ring is part of the fill adapter, it help to seal the air between the valve and the AF adapter.
What kind of fitting are you using? if it is a painball quick connector fitting, you also need to check the o-ring from those fitting, some o-ring does not seal good, you may need to replace those o-ring too with either smaller o-ring or larger o-ring depending on how connectors contact each other. I used to have problem with the fittings before, it was very little leak, I replaced the 2 o-ring inside “Female quick-disconnect adapter”, that fixed the leak.
You NEED to narrow down where the air is leaking, and come back here let us know, we maybe able to help.

Pad was talking about the o-ring that came with the AF adapter which is that help to prevent air lead through between the adapter and the bottle.
The o-ring is is very easy to fail off and loose it, I don’t think you can fill the bottle without that o-ring that pad was talking about.

Are you talking about where the tank screws on or where it connects to the valve?

No o-ring in adapter. Would I be able to find one at a hardware store?
Is the o ring still in the adaptor?

yea i bought my hand pump and SS about a year before I really got into this addiction and by that point it ws too late to take it back so Ive just learn to deal with my mistake and rebuild it when it do stupid shit like this… 😳
