Yes, you need to pick it up…load pellet, then slap it back down.
Its a PITA, but it really does only take a second.

No fuss, no muss, no tools, fits real nice. Just grab it slap it on. Crosshairs line up every time.
Fine for bench or backyard shooting. For field/woods hunting, a couple pieces of velco, or even a few rubber bands and its ready to go.
Didn’t want to buy a Seben mount just to play around with an old palmcorder..no hd..no slo-mo..its old, records to micro tape.
