What The Hell Is This?
The USPS lost both of my Rotometals 53 pound pure lead orders. I tracked one down and, after 7 weeks, I finally got it last week.
After work, I pulled into my driveway and saw another USPS box sitting on my front porch. The only thing that I currently have on order is 2 more LBT molds. Couldn’t wait to get the box into the house, I cut into it outside.
The outside of the box had a note: We’re sorry that your article was damaged during processing. My address label was hand written and has also been stamped, in red letters; Found Loose In The Mail.
The box contained 2 of bars like the one on the left in the picture. The “mystery Metal” weighs 3 pounds; the chunk of lead on the right is 7 pounds.
I can’t scratch it with a sharp knife. The bars look like they could have been pressure cast in a 2 piece horzontally split mold.
The bars measure 1.393″ thick, 2.318″ wide and 4.265″ long. They both have grinding/smoothing marks half way up their height and the grind marks have the same color as the rest of the bar so, the bar has not been painted/anodized.
Have any of you casters ever seen any kind of metal that looks like this. I have talked to Rotometals and then sent them an email with a picture of the bar.
They currently have no clue as to what it is.

It says MIR on it; could it be part of the old Soviet Space Station?

Tedd,
We have a two person, read that two 50 year old women post office.
When my orders from Rotometals get in, which I meticulisly track as I do all orders, I show up at the posot office, they let me into their inner santum and I carry the package out, which is too heavy for them to be lifting anyway.
And they think it is wonderful that I cast my own air gun fodder.
And yes, I know how very forutnate I am.
