What valve to get for carbon tank?
I bought a tank cheap on eBay :

The tank you bought has to have a valve with .750 x 16 unf2B threads with standard o ring.Most of the valves on scba and jubalee have .875 x 14. Paintball threads are usually 5/8 x 18 or something.The only valve I could find with .750 x 16unf2B for sale is only rated at 3000psi.The guy at ISI told me they could make a valve for any thread but it would sell for 200.00+++.So the way to go is to have someone cut the valve base to the proper thread.Scott made a 4500psi valve with .750 x 16unf. The key is to have the flange shaped for the gland and the threads cut to proper neck depth. I have a guy with the valves rebuilt and have sent him the blueprint waiting on his response.

Let me see if i get this right…. the tank I got is usable with he general paintball 3000 psi valve? And it’s not the same as Joe Brancato or other common Jubilee valve we used on our carbon tank? ❓
I spoke with him by phone today and told him about your purchase.These guys have zero ebay experience.The bottle you bought has the standard o ring if it is the one in the link you provided.

Nitroxda,I have learned that the 002 bottle is the neck with the standard o ring gland so good news.I have secured prints on the bottle neck and sent them to a machinist familiar with HPA valves.I will let you know what I find out next week.

I have yet to find even a 3000psi valve for the 002 tank you purchased.Only the other 17cu tank he has listed.If I find one I will let you know.If they have not shipped yet you might try to change to the other tank.Torque

Thanks for the welcome.When you look at it,the large tank he has is the real deal for the guy with his own compressor.These are top of the line carbon fiber tanks rated for fire use.They are some of the toughest built.That fire rating stamp seen on alot of tanks means one xtra layer of some kind of material.Brand new with a euro valve,DIN 300 connection.That cant be beat.That is a brand new setup and add one of Joe’s fill sets and you are under 400.00.Cant beat that.I am working on a connection to have a 4500psi valve cut,I know a guy that can do it he is checking on the specs.I will let you all know what I find out.A 17cu would be nice to have for draggin around in the truck or camping.

After seeing this tank purchase and the question of the valve I signed up to let you know what I know about it.The tank in the add you posted is a Luxfer L17G-002 it has a .750 x 16 unf thread,the key is the 002 at the end. It denotes the o ring gland.Unfortunately the 002 stands for military gland specs.Very hard to get that spec. The other 17cu tank FireavonISI has listed on ebay is a L17C-3 it has a thread size of .750 x 16unf-2B. 2B is standard o ring for paintball and most scba All valves I have found to date with .750 x 16unf 2B threads are only rated at 3000psi operating pressure.These specs are straight from tech at Luxfer.I have driven to ISI facilities and gone over the specs with the US sales reps assitant.They do make their own valves and as far as I know and was told by said person their cost to produce one is 150.00 us.The larger tanks he has for sale have a euro M18 (METRIC) neck thread.He has the valves on hand,or he did a couple of months ago.He will sell the large bottle with valve for 210.00.The euro valve has a DIN 300 thread,easy enough.The euro tanks have no DOT certification for retesting and that is why they would not sell.No one wants to fill them and after 5 years no one will touch them for liability reasons in the US.hEY DON’T FEEL BAD i ALMOST BOUGHT 75 OF THE FUCKERS. Sorry for screaming.I went over this breifly with a couple of valve gurus last week and I am awaiting guidance.Some first post huh.
Don’t think it’s available online….bought it from a guy who resold it to me from the original importer…

The tanks are cheap because a fire department usually will not buy old stock of say 2 years old or older so they just sell them off.I they don’t move them they bore a hole in them and throw them away.This guy just lost a bid to the fire dept my son works for, it was a total of 2.5 million and they lost to Scott.All of the replacement cylinders had to be current year models.They are at the buyers mercy on old stock.The Drager cylinders they replaced were only 2 years old.Someone came in and bought all of those 2 year old dragers cheap.
