Q:

What we need to get it right….!

We are alway trying to upgrade our guns and one thing that really needs to be improved is the attachment point of the butt plate. Behind the bottle cover and the tank is a plastic disc with a metal T-Nut the butt pad screws into.

So what we need is people looking for an alternative. What would be ideal is a metal disc or some other material that we can use for attachment.

So lets all look for something to replace that plastic disc so our butts will be secure…LOL

Take the pad off, put on washer, put pad back on?

I’d agree WOK, only its a little raw looking, no offense meant. But what Rabbits has on his rig is what a guy wants, if he goes that route. Not that one couldn’t clean up the hardware a bit and polish it, maybe some different fasteners? I like the general idea behind it. When i recieve my piece from you i may have to experiment a bit with that idea.

Now for the third time, anyone how are we going to get the washer or any round disk under the tank pad??

Erik,

That look good. And certainly can be used to mount a butt piece.

Some guys dont want a clamp on the out side of the tank and want to be able to screw it in at the back of the tank.

But to tell you the truth a clamp like that is far sturdier a connection then what is currently being used.

Yo Erik,

good to see you here bro!

That bottle you`ve bought, did you get that from Kilroy, or did you get it anywhere else? I need another bottle too, to put in my extra “HmdB” valve to make those .25 a little more speedy.

Take care!

Hi all,

I recently bought a new bottle for my Talon, only the diameter was bigger and the length shorter. That made it very uncomfortable to shoot, so I had to fix it some way. Since I don’t have any kind of lathe, milling machine or that looks like that, I had to improvise a little πŸ™‚

I had a strip of metal which I bent using the vice and a hammer, pretty much just trial and error until it fit. Cutting some more to make an extension so that it fits me better, and a buttplate. Then I used a file and a dremel to make all edges smooth and finally fit it together. See pics πŸ˜›

Cheers,
Erik

Adam,
Here is a link. I just received part of their catalog and it looks like same thing online http://www.wagnercompanies.com/end_caps.aspx

Quantity Part Description UOM Unit

Looks like $25 minimum order but maybe if you call one can work out something.

Given what justforfun/Roy kindly provided, above is a pretty close fit. Next size smaller is probably too small so one may need to trim this one a tad. Could just hand sand it down and round the edge.

cut the slits for the pipe clamps and install them and cover then tighten down on the angle allowing the bottle cover to provide cushion and grip so it won’t move.

That sounds good but getting the bottle cover on might be a problem with an angle on the bottle.

Good Idea though.

I hate to even mention this but…What if you could fing some Aluminum 3″ angle and cut it into lets say 3/4″ wide pieces and then use your method of hose clamp attachment….Nice slot could be milled to allow the butt plate to move up and down and be rotated to fit the shoulder…something about 1/4″ thick would work…

What is the diameter of the tank? We need a disk that size

Looks to be with the cover just around 2 1/2″. Light wasn’t too good so I may be off by an 1/8. Had a precise measrue a while ago when I had the cover off but lost that measure. Someone probably has it closer.

That 2.375″ mentioned would probably pretty close minus the cover.

Looks like that might be the size we need. Got any picts?

I posted this sometime ago.

Keep in mind, I only have one tank to measure, your mileage may vary.

This is a bare tank.

Get a fender washer (steel) and a hex nut (steel) solder together to make a flanged nut. Then bond that assembly to the base of the tank with epoxy.

Assuming everyone would know to clean and roughen the bonding surfaces. If done correctly, it should never come loose.

Just an idea.

That washer is 2″D standard fender washer thickness. I’ll look closer at the other sizes and see if i can get one of the thick ones, and a little wider. Didn’t consider it digging in, but now that you mention it i could see it happening. I think were on the right track though.

Now how to get it installed??
