Q:

whats typical velocity with

I recently bought a talon in .22 18″ barrel. I have made some mods but have done so with stock parts. I am wondering what the typical velocity is of .22 cal with CPHP, JSB 18 gr, and .25 Kings. I am wanting to stick a 30 cal barrel in it and am hoping to get some decent velocity from it. It is a 28″ 30 cal barrel.

Right now I am generating:

JSB 18 gr 960 fps
Beeman Kodiaks 21.14 gr 910 fps
CPHP 1000 fps
JSB 13.4 gr 1020 fps

I am getting 860 fps with .25 JSB kings and 920 fps with HN FTT.

I saw another member was making 880 fps with JSB 30 cal pellets on a talon but I don’t know if it was standard valve.

I was interested in shooting only jsb pellets through .30 cal barrel. I have a .257 coming so I am thinking I can get an idea of power from it. Its peaking at 40 fpe with the 18″ barrel and I am not getting to use anything beyond a 5 on the power wheel.

I had a set-up, 30 cal Talon, but mine had a heavy hammer and hi flow valve. My numbers were right around the speed you were talking about. A 30 cal out of a regular Talon valve set-up is probably going to be slower then you want.

Yes I have a direction with my question. I understand the slight animosity due to first post but calm a bit. I am wanting to know if I swap to 28″ 30 cal barrel if the standard valve will have enough ass to it to be useful. I gave velocity with 2 different calibers. I found another member that shot the 30 barrel in a talon in the 800 range but he never specified if it was standard flow valve or high flow valve.

Considering that when I got the gun I was shooting the Beeman Kodiaks at 790 fps and I am now shooting them at 910 fps I am hoping I can push the 30 cal pellets.

Hello,
welcome to forum.

I am going to be the devil of the day and just ask what are you trying to do.
Is it just a “how fast can you go” question, or are you actually interested in a specific shooting application?

I mean, fast does not mean accurate, and most shooters like accurate.

Please don’t get offended, but there is shitload of these questions here that usually do not contribute much to the general knowledge unless you have come up with a tune up or are using some interesting mods combinations or customizations that are worth discussing.

As far as the answer:
My gun shoots faster than yours.
Did that help?

Have fun.
