Q:

Where art thou Brother Hemn?

Today is 9/16/13, should go down in history as the day the Edgun Matador .22 cal Long R3M should have landed on the much anticipated Hemn’s doorstep. Hemn, after catching your breath, please give us an update. Is it everything you’ve dreamed about for the past 2 yrs? Wishing you the best and that they delivered when promised.

hey goat, my best friend owns a pastics machine shop, would it be worth looking into making some?

Hi Hemn.

Yes, the broken air valve rod is one of mine. I have broken 4-5 thru the years. When they do finally break, all of the reservoir air pressure will dump out thru the transfer port and out of the barrel.

It isn’t a big deal to change one out; I can change one out in under 30 minutes. All of my replacement air valve rods have a longer steel end and need to be cut to the proper length before installing. I use a cut off wheel, to get it close and then use a jeweler’s file to finish the end of the rod.

I currently have 5 new ones here, just in case. I am anal like that when it comes to Edguns! 😯

Tony doesn’t always have them in stock and I occasionally get a request from a TAG member asking if I have an extra one that I can send. IIRC, one of the guys with a R3 25 long broke one of the new style air valve rods and asked to buy one off of me. Tony had the old style rods but none of the new style R3 rods.

The guy asked me if the old style rods would work in the new R3 air valve housing. I didn’t know so; I took one of my R3s, with the new air valve housing and rod, apart and checked. The air valve rods were the same, just longer on each end. I told him that I thought the old style would work; it would just need trimmed up to match the new style’s overall length.

He got the air valve rod fitted and got his R3 up and going again. He still had the same chrony speed and shot count as what the stock rod gave him. He did get the proper rod from Tony but, the last that I have heard from him; he was still using the modified old style air valve rod.

The air valve rods last much longer in the 22s than they do in the 25s and a 25 air valve rod in a gun that shoots 880-900 will last longer than one in a gun that is shooting 950 or higher.

I am curious as to what Ed is using for an air valve rod and air valve housing in the 30 cal R3s. If he is using the stock improved R3 air valve rod, I think that the 30 cal will go thru the air valve rod much faster than one in a 25. I will know what Ed is using in around another month: I hope!

If Ed has come up with a new air valve rod and housing for the 30 cal, I will have to stock up on some. Just in case.

Regarding the new R3M most Russian guys and a few one in Europ and I got it, mine i shot only three dry fire and three shots with 18.13gr JSB.

but the R2.5 and R3 i believe there are.

Oldgoat has posted a pic to me one broken air valve rod, if it is not his valve then it is someone else.

Does anyone has a report on a broken new type valve?

And what is the deal with those BSA Lonestars

The restrictor has been removed.
All the lone’s are connected with an external regulator to the scuba.
The BSA barrels do the trick, they are superior. (and sold out for this moment!)
Those regulators are pretty expensive, but all togetter it is not an expensive setup.

Again, I think I am the only one shooting NOT connected to the scuba….
It is what the Edgun is made for!

Hemn,
The benjamin/leapers combo at 17th place surpriced me too!
6 times magnification… my eyes are to old for that.
The daystate might sound expensive, but the cast bullit section (Drummen Sinner, Beaumond) is way more expensive.

btw spare parts are important, o-rings at number one.
A spare valve (and brass nut) is good but:

And what is the deal with those BSA Lonestars that are $400 on AOA and all near the top? Even their stock shot curve doesn’t look too good. Are they all modified or are these old discontinued ones? A lot are using scopes that cost 4x as much as the gun.

dose somebody can tell me why the most expensive air rifle in the market today (Daystate) cannot get the 1st position ever?

do you think guys the defect is from the shooter or the rifle? but if the shooter is not qualified then at least one time should win, or at least one time should a good shooter share the championship, if, if , if ,if ….. i don’t know , i have no words when i see the only $500 PCP air rifle can took 17th position and Daystate can only took 22nd position.
and the good news is this time again Edgun can be one of the Top 5.

Just ordered my second Delta – this time a 4.5-30×50 with the MCZ 2 reticle. The optics put many, many high-end scopes to total shame. Crystal clear and i mean c r y s t a l clear. Even at 30X.
They tested one of those in a Swedish hunting magazines and were thrilled. Those guys normally spit on anything less than Kahles or Swarowski. One of the testers bought one for himself too.

Wow very good Robert. :8:

I see someone using a Delta optical scope. Lots of IORs, Hawkes, Optisan, and Tasco WC.
