Where to start,with Talon .177?
I just got a Talon in .177cal 18 inch barrel, and I’m having big shot varations in velocity? I filled it to 3000psi,to start with, then turned the adjustmrnt wheel to 4. It will shoot 994fps,then every once in a while it will shoot down to 630fps.? The top hat measures 0.090 as it came from the factory. Would that cause the varation in velocity,or is my fill pressure too much? I’m shooting Baracuda match 10.6 gr. pellets.Any help would be greatly appreciated. Ron

can you set up your rifle chrony and shot groups, if you can , fill to your 3000m psi and starr shooting 5 shot groups, you can pull your tank and referance your tank psi every other group and write the psi down and write the velocity of the shots or average of for each of the groups, \\
but dont refill , just keep shooting so you can watch your fps and how your gun is grouping at the given fps that the gun is shooting for each group, your fps will tighten up at a given psi in the tank, and you will see a curve and and high and low fps, this will take allot of shots and go ahead and shoot your tank psi down well below 2000 psi, because you will have a map after you do this of the curve and where the gun shoots the best with what ever velocity, at a given tank pressure.
when you see your fps tighten up you can stop there , or keep going, but pull your tank and this is the psi fill pressure that your gun wants to shoot at for consistancy and best groups , you can fill just higher for a few shots or put several hundered psi in for more shots.
this is one way to do it
