Q:

Which air valve when converting my Talon SS to air

I am converting my Talon SS (now using CO2) to air.
I already have a new 24″ 22 cal. barrel and an extended shroud.

My question is, which air tank/valve should I purchase. I intent to use 16-18 grain pellets if possible without exceeding the sound barrier. Heavier pellets ok if needed. All of my hunting is done short range – 30′ – 60′ max.

Shoud I get the high flow valve/air tank or the mid-range valve? I do a lot of indoor 50′ target shooting in winter, so efficient use of air desired.

Thnx.

For 16-18g pellets, shooting indoors, and the most efficient use of air, you definitely do NOT want the hi-flow valve.

The tank with the “standard” Talon valve will give you everything you’re looking for and more. 15-18g pellets are perfect for it, but it easily flings 21g Kodiaks with some serious Extreme Prejudice as well. Once you get down to pellets of 14g or less, supersonic crack may be an issue at higher power wheel settings.

The Hi-flow is made for the Condor. Otherwise, it’s preferred by the Hot-Rodders and Modders who want to achieve the most power they can get out of the gun.

Well you could do the Hi flow but you should get the add on weight to get the max out of it.
I think the Talon bottle will be just fine for what you describe.
