Which do you think is better….
The Ruger 10/22 or CZ American…????
The CZ has it on accuracy, but the Ruger is cheaper and semi’ Have heard the Ruger can have feed problems with subsonic rounds (lower power can have reduced blowback action).
Anyone who has one or the other????

Thanks for the info! I finally broke down and bought another 10-22. I’ll post pix soon. Its a thumb hole stock in ambi. With a Carbon shrouded bbl. 😀

So far just a box of light loads… Took the XR out, damn sweet piece of steel… 😯 Still getting familiar with the trigger but it’s real nice to shoot. Going between that and the 10/22 is funny, the 10/22 feels like a toy after thew 223…

Long ago, I bought a 10/22, simply because I knew I couldn’t keep my hands off the gun, and would eventually tinker. There are a bazillion different mods and aftermarket parts you can get for the gun, including, but not limited to, a lighter recoil spring for reliable cycling of subsonic loads. If you are choosing subsonic rounds because you will be using them with a silencer, as I believe is legal across the pond, I see nothing wrong with the 10/22 with the above mentioned spring. This is especially true if you plan on needing a quick follow up shot with multiple targets, and you want to keep your movement down. However, I doubt that it will be anywhere near as accurate as the CZ out of the box. So, depending on what your need is, either would be a good choice.

We brought my buddies 10/22 to the range but I forgot to check the SN for the lot numbers… I was too busy having fun with my new to me XR-100 in .223. 😯

What models of 10-22 come with the steel receiver. I’m definitely interested in one!!!

I’ve been looking at the little browning .22 that is made from their buckmark? pistol. I have a bull bbl. browning .22 silhouette pistol that is a tack driver. The rifle might be good too. A big plus for me is that it is a pistol grip and ambidexterious. I swing both way’s 😯 but only with guns! 😆
How in the hell can a 10/22 shoot 1/10 of an inch at 50 yards and not be accurate at 100? 😕
(And they come with alu. receivers. Or at least the 40 or so I have owned did.)
If it is that accurate at 50 yards, (and I have never seen a factory 10-22 that was that pin point accurate) why would it be off at 100? It would be by default 2/10″ not accounting for longer range stability. Unless there is a scope, shooter issue. 😆

I’m using the yellow tag SK ammo and it’s only a 40 grain round so at distances past 50 yards the groups open up with any type of wind and where the range is, there is always wind. Even at 50 yards in a good wind the groups open up a bit…
My buddy bought a new 10/22 (last December) which came with a plastic trigger box and a silver painted steel receiver. And yes I can tell the difference! 😉
I thought it was odd as well but the only other 10/22 I have held was mine and it’s the fancy from the factory USST set up… Mine is silver painter aluminum, which makes no sense at all to me since some of the paint on the inside is peeling and flaking off when everything cycles… One day i’m going to polish it out!!!
The SK ammo is terrific, Eley was good, the SK stuff is great! If I weigh out the rounds to less than a half a grain difference I can get even better groups than if I just pull from the boxes… The fps is around 1050…
But it is $50 for a box of 500 which most people say it super expensive but after buying 300 RUM ammo at $75/box of 20, it’s super cheap to me. 😆 And with the accuracy it’s worth every penny… ❗
Just for you knife i’m going to try some 100 yard groups if the wind is low this weekend. I’m curious to see what the SK ammo can do. I did shoot some supersonic 30 grain Aquila ammo out to 100 yards but even at 50 the ammo shoots messy groups, I could get on paper at 100 but it was not fun. Aquila super sonic ammo sucks unless your trying to shoot something larger than a bunny sized target and you don’t really care where it hits it…
Had a look at the CZ 511 semi today.

He said it’s not accurate at 100 in any kind of wind, which is true. I’m sure accuracy suffers at 50 from wind too. Relatively slow moving .22lr is going to be more susceptible than other calibers.

10/22 is great out to 50 yards (5 shots 0.1″ c.c., like clock work), cycles wonderfully with subsonic ammo, Eley, SK, Green Label Federal, SK has been the best with Eley second.
My only beef is that it is not so accurate out to 100 yards in any kind of wind. I would imagine that a bolt action would be a bit more powerful at longer distances since the powder charge is not being used to cycle the rounds.
I have the USST 10/22 with a 0.92″ stainless bull barrel and a Volquartsen 2000 trigger. Recoil buffer added and the cnc aluminum (stock 10/22s come with steel receivers) receiver has been drilled for a cleaning rod. Newer 10/22’s come with plastic trigger assemblies which are better than the older aluminum ones.
From what I have been told the CZ’s have the edge on accuracy over the 10/22 in stock configuration. My USST 10/22 has been great, with 1000+ rounds and very few problems…
So far I have learned that it’s important to get the right ammo or you’ll drive yourself nuts! 😆
