Q:

Which pellet for .25 extreme valve?

I’m still trying to get my .25 condor 24″ lw barrel, extreme valve and r&l shroud to group.

I’ve tried eun jins 43 and 35’s with little to no luck. The H&N 31 gr has gotten the closest with 3″ groups at 50 yds. I’ve also tried various pw and pressure combos.

Is there anyone on the board with the extreme valve in .25 cal and if so what pellets are you shooting.

I’ll be trying the kings next but I was really trying to shoot some heavier pellets which is why I went with the extreme valve.

Thanks,
Rick

It does not surprise me that the Eunjin’s were clipping in your shroud also. They are pretty “rough” straight out of the tin. Sounds like you’re really wanting to shoot “heavy” lead which is great but don’t sacrifice accuracy for knock down power. I’ve never taken a pig (yet) with my AF gun but a very good friend of mine farms pigs and uses his .25 Condor to drop them with JSB’s all the time. They seem to be the favorite pellet in these guns among many shooters who use standard( out of the tin) pellets. My gun loves them.

Thanks everybody.

I had been starting around 2800, but I’ll drop the starting pressure and go from there.

Thanks wild, yes I reamed out the holes and that seemed to have stopped the crazy holes. I was thinking that since the eun jins were so tight to load that they may have been touching on their way out.

I am about to try something tonight with the 43’s. I’m going to drill a hole in a piece of metal the same diameter as the h&n 31 gr, then I’m going to push the 43’s through the hole squeezing it down to a diameter closer to the .31’s.

It may take some playing around with but I’ve got nothing to lose by experimenting with this.

Try reducing your tank pressure like Maw said. I’m not positive but I’m pretty sure nobody’s gun has a “sweet spot” higher than 24-2600psi. I had a problem with Eunjins clipping with my R&L shroud also. I just hogged out the holes a little and that cured the problem. If you can get the 43’s to group, you should have no problem dropping a pig with a properly placed head shot. Between the eye and the ear should do the trick.
Good luck!

This week I will get some chrony numbers on the 31’s. I think the 43’s were clipping because some holes on the targets looked like the pellet was contacting sideways, sometimes though I’d get nice round holes.

The extreme valve bumps fps up about 150. The 43’s will push 1035 @ 3000#.

It’s frustrating to have a 95 fpe gun but no heavy pellets to shoot to get it there.
I haven’t tried cast pellets yet, I’m wanting to find some happy places with standard pellets first.

I was wanting heavier pellets for hogs and then shooting some lighter ones for rabbits and squirrel.

This learning curve is rough when shooting time is limited.

Sorry for sounding so whiny, just needed to vent a bit………somebody call me a waaaaaaaaambulance! 🙂

Try 2200 psi in the tank to see of that helps

Sounds like it’s shooting to fast maybe or possibly clipping. 31 gr should group better than that.

What fps are you shooting at?
