Whitetail or Cottontail??
So out here in cali I have noticed that the season on cottontails is year round and whitetail has a specific season. Does anyone know how to tell the difference?? I have looked at pictures, and read up on them, but they both look the same to me.

No I can usually tell the difference between a deer and rabbit 😆 . Just rabbits, they have whitetail, blacktain, cottontail, pygmy, jackrabbits, and then all kinds of different hares out here where I live. Most of em I can see the difference, but I don’t see a damn bit of difference between a cottontail, and whitetail

Ooops switch that, cottontail has a season, whitetail year round. Along with jackrabbits 😈

I’m no expert, but I thought a white tail was a jackrabbit. Cottontails are smaller and don’t have the really big ears or hind legs.
