Who here has pre-ordered the MROD pistol????
I have been thinking about a pistol…22xx, etc. But I think I will hold out for the MROD. I have already had the pre-order button in front of me three times, but each time I kept convincing myself that I do not need another air gun….Who else has been going through this? Come on, be honest!

I pre-ordered one, and then found out the delivery date was moved to August 2010 !! Hell with that. I canceled it

Something else few of the characters chugging the Crosmanl koolaid seem to have considered is just how absolutely ungainly this abortion truly is…
Here’s the score…the Marauder pressure tube has a significantly larger diameter than the Disco. Add to the the Marauder breech is about twice as tall as a Disco breech plus it has the damn mag sticking up even above that. So now figure you have to mount high rings even with the slightly smaller 8 round pistol magazine.
I mocked up a Marauder pistol several months back using a Marauder breech and tube on a 22XX grip frame…was way too tall once you dropped rings and glass on it and in my opinion this is why while Crosman may be marketing it as a pistol they are going to sell it fitted up as a rifle. As a Carbine it does have the potential to be pretty sweet but as a pistol?

Then there is a corollary issue…it does look as tho Crosman will retain the right side bolt position on their “pistol”…not bad at all if you leave the rifle stock attached or are a chronic lefty but it’s going to make it about worthless as a repeater pistol for right handed shooters.
Understand I do like the New Marauder carbine but its false advertising on Crosman’s part to refer to it as a pistol just because they bolted a 22XX grip frame to it.

I remember when people were lined up to buy the Marauder rifle for $499, and then, literally overnight, it dropped to under $400.
The Marauder pistol is nice, but over priced. Waiting does a lot of good when it comes to saving potentially 1/4 the original MRSP, especially after you find out from actual users if its even worth bothering with.
I’ve still got a lot of questions on shot count from that little air cylinder it has. If the full sized Marauder strains to get 24 shots at full power from most users, I’d want to wait to see if this thing will be needing refills every 16 rounds.

i read the catalog again and it comes with a stock. Count me in 😈

the SHOT show gun was pretty well a mock up proto type is what was claimed to Greg Davis so who knows. If Crosman goes with a new design of grip frame it may well be no longer modular with the 22XX series.

my guess is they retain the 22XX grip frame and install an adjustable sear and trigger stop then call it good to go

Ya, I don’t think that it is too much to ask to get accurate information. If their gun is good, then tell us about it. If it is no, then make it good before you sell it to us. Our opinions will influence others decisions on whether or not to buy. Maybe they need to get Tim and Greg in on the project.

here is a link to some test results Steve in CT posted on his Tuned Greg Davis built .25 Marauder tho I would expect the stock Crosman’s performance to be somewhat less then a full Davis tuned rifle with a LW barrel.
as far as the pistol goes IO do not think doing a pre order is wise at all.
As it stand Crosman production people at the SHOT show told MAC1 and Greg Davis totally different things regarding the grip frame. Facts are no one yet knows what the truth is…MAC1 was told it was going to be a slightly altered sear set up, Davis was led to believe it will be a totally new grip frame with a Marauder based trigger group. When you have production people talking this way at a trade show its obvious they have not finalized a thing thus to pre order is the ultimate pig in a poke.

Good point Steve. Such info is exactly why I must hold off from pre-ordering one. We should wait and see.
I’m like’n that .25 MROD but I am not so sure about the power 😕 A rep at Crosman told me that the advertised 900 fps was attained with a non-lead pellet. Do they make a .25 caliber non-lead pellet? Without the power, I may as well stick with my .22 guns that shoot very well. So I am thinking about it also. I have some opposums that have been coming around. I am saving them for a .25 MROD encounter…maybe some other critter will get them before me; never know.
I have tried asking around about the real world .25 MROD velocities/energy, but everyone is all clamed up about it. That doesn’t look too promising. I am hoping that a full pressure fill and some adjustments and maybe a little tuning will yield some good energy.
For the price I will wait and see.
Yeah, that’s what scares me. But with all the good talk about the MROD rifle…it makes you think it has to be a winner. It will come to around 400.00 with the 10% off coupon….I can’t afford it anyway. I started a new bucket and I’m putting as much spare change in it as possible. Hopefully by summer I will be able to get one. It doesn’t say how long the barrel is, but it looks like a 12″ or 14″.

The Crosman guys must have read Riverside’s post. I made the same observation about the bolt handle being on the wrong side for a right handed shooter, so it must be obvious.
Have they delayed the .25 Maraudeer?
