Why ? Condor use .177 all gas out

I got a new Condor in 24″ .22 ,but after i put a 18″ .177……use level 7
in 2000 psi ,all gas out at once ! Why ? Pls anyone know ?

To shoot .177 out of a Condor tank a stiffer spring is required for the tank to not dump. That was one of the problems with the original Condor valve. They were putting in .177 springs in them for the Euro market and trying to get away with it here leaving Condor users with valves that would not function as advertised. We can thank Tom Gaylord for those years of misery.
Now AF has 2 springs for the Condor valves one is for .177 and the other is for .22.
since I have gotten my .25 dialed in, I’ve been happy with performance but hadn’t figured why my ideal fill pressure in the Condor tank went way down. Guess this would work in reverse going upward in caliber too. Time to try a lighter valve return spring. (or not, 980fps w/ 31gr kodiacs on a 2400 fill is kind of nice, air tank fills last much longer).
Is it really that simple to change a valve? I was looking at the Tim Wilson valve, seems really robust. Especially compared to stock. Anyone here have one?
Another point, I also bought the Micor meter tank, which I charged up. Can I simply use it for the 177cal barrel and leave my Condor tank alone ?

What about the other way, changing from a 22cal to a 25cal. I am getting ready to do this and want to know if anything has to be done other than changing the barrel ?

another thing you have to remember is the spring retainer is different, the brass thing behind the spring with the hole in it. i know because i bought the spring from air force and told them why i was getting the spring. i bought the gun in .22 and also bought the .177 barrel at the same time and had the same problem, with .177 dumb. i asked them if any of the other parts were diffrent, they said no, but there are. what i ended up doing was using the .22 spring and really turning down the top hat. like to .30 to .40 and i had no problems. now i just have a valve stem for .22 and one for .177. i think it is easer to change the stem than the tophat setting or spring. i just pop it out with a screwdriver with air in the tank. put the new one in and fire the gun to set it. i also told them they sould not advertize the condor, that you can change to cal. just by chaining the barrel. they said that they know about the problem, witch really makes me mad!!!!

When thte caliber is changed the forces become unbalanced.
The valve opens and so pressurizes the breech volume. The barrel stub and tophat present an effective area to the pressure resulting in forces that hold the valve open. This volume must vent quickly to allow the closing forces from the valve head in the flow plus the valve spring to close the valve.
So when the .177 cal is installed the opening forces are higher than the close forces so the valve ‘stays’ open…. tank dump.
To deal with this emit less air….. reduce tophat setting.
increase valve spring……… increase valve head size….. bigger sail.
Tom Gaylord could not understand the system and based on his selection by Airforce to promote the bogus science they do not understand their design either.

Adam could you please go into detail as to why/how this happens? The .177 spring, How is it different? TIA
The size spring for .177 I do not know but Airforce does have them.
With the correct spring your tank will not dump.

The reason is that in the valve there is a spring for .22 and you need the spring for .177

Why couldn’t you adjust the spring retainer to the effect of adding a new spring? If you screw it in more, the spring pushes harder against the delrin. If you screw it out, it pushes less hard.
