Q:

Why the low power??

Just experimenting over the weekend I have found when I fill over 170 bar my muzzle velocity goes down. Even at 170 bar It’s a couple of foot pound low and after firing a few more shots It goes back up. At 180-200 bar fill I am getting greater than half the power I’m getting at 170 bar 😯 I’m running a upgraded spring and a hybrid 60g hammer so wouldn’t of thought that was causing a problem but It’s almost as If the extra air In the bottle Is slamming the valve closed prematurely. As a obvious result of this I’m getting alot less shots than I should be If I was charging to 200 bar and I’m having to refill at around 110-120 bar as the power drops about 5-6 ft.lbs and the POI drops accordingly.

Anyone experianced this and/or know how to fix the problem??
TIA,
F.

I havn’t a clue why It Isn’t seating properly. The stem Is spot on so I have another delin seal on the way to try and hopefully that will solve the problem. Still doesn’t explain what happened to It In the first place? 😕

Ah!! A picture says a thousand words..!!
Looks like the delrin seal won’t be going down far enough to open fully then.
Whats causing the stem not to seat properly? I take it its the seal thats faulty and not a bent stem?

I’ve just started having a play Pab and noticed It. It may of been like this since day one with the 2.5mm stem at the lower power I never noticed It as It Isn’t as obvious.

I’ve only just bought this hybrid hammer and spring so don’t want to be buying another now If I can help It. I did notice this when I took the valve apart. I don’t think that would help much 😆 A VERY kind member Is sending me one though and I can’t thank him enough for all the bits I’ve had 😉 Off with the knee pads lol… here’s the pic…

Has it been like this from day one, or just started happening??
Not many of us fill to the full 3000psi due to what you are suffering. Anywhere fromm 2200 to 2800 seems to be the kind of pressure to fill. I get away with 2900 as I have uprated mainspring and heavier hammer.

The shot count Is shite, that’s why I’m working on It. I tried preloading the spring more yesterday but the spacers I had were either too small or too big so I took the valve apart to mod as the per the link above and everything Is allready done 😕 Flat spring edges, bored out spring retainer and beveled. It does need a polish so I’ll do that. Has anyone replaced the valve spring with something weaker? Surely the 200bar Is enough to close the valve and then I may get full power from a 200 bar fill?? Worth trying or Is there anything else?

I just don’t want to be draining the bottle all the time with only having a hand pump 😆

If you get a good shot count, the easiest thing to do would be to just fill to 170ish bar. If you don’t get many shots, then you should work on it.

The spacer should do the same for you.

Cheers guys, I’ll try a bit more packing behind the spring first. Thanks Pab 😉
Interesting you said lessen the valve spring tension maw. I was looking at this http://talonairgun.com/forum/viewtopic.php?t=1272 the other day and was wondering If It was worth while doing or not. Does It really make that much difference to air efficiency? I can’t alter the PW as I’m In the UK we don’t have them on most of our rifles 😆

Or lessen the valve spring tension,a tad bit, did you try turning the pw down some.

Valve lock. You need to a. don’t fill so high or b. uprate the hammer to 80 odd grms. 😀
Try adding a bit more spacer behind the spring in the mean time, give the hammer a bit more oomph.
