I think we are all impressed and intrigued by there bullet casting and long range shooting exploits
Someday I WILL go that route..but today is not the day.
So I’m trying a more humble experiment, if it works ..great, if not no big loss.
I took the barrel of an old broken 35 year old 22, a Winchester 190.
its now at a local gunsmith being turned down, I should get it back in the next few days.
I found some nice little 30gr bullets and figure I should be able to shoot them in the 900-1000fps range
Has anyone else ever tried this? Will it work?

.22 Mag is slightly larger than .22 lr. They should be .223 😉 (This is the very reason .22x.22mag convertable revolvers never shoot quiet as well as stright .22 revolvers. The bore is slightly larger.

for the price i wouldnt mind trying them as long as they will fit properly.
I’m putting an actual rimfire 22 long barrel on my gun..you can’t shoot them through a normal pellet gun barrel. A .22 pellet gun barrel is not the same size as a real 22 long rimfire PB barrel.
I’m still confused as to the actual size bullets I need, I have read both .223 and .224 are normal for 22 long pb bullets, and I have not been notified by the blacksmith that the barrel is done..I’m in limbo till I get the barrel and see what fits..
You’re using a .22 lr barrel, with .22 lr slugs. Should work good?

Did at one time want to try just as you. Never did get a .22 pb barrel.
For ammo, try North American Arm’s. They have .22 (32 gr I think) bullets made for their little black powder revolver. They are just .22 bullets normally loaded in .22 Longs.
Also, Eley And RWS make bullets and sell the in Europe. But I have never seen them sold here in the States. This is what the .223 Drummen Sinner shoots. It has been very successful in European Air Gun Bench Rest Comps.
The difficulty of finding .22 bullets that will work is exactly why we have gone to the .257. That and the .257 is more efficient on air than the smaller bore would be.

I am pretty sure .22 lr will be .222 – .223 and most will be .223. But 5.56 or .223 rem or other 22 caliber center fires are .224 diameter.
As far as I can tell..they are just for .22 reloading..but I might be wrong.

Your lucky if you found reload ammo for the 22, it would be nice to find some 22 magnum mold.
Are the slugs for pellet guns or .22 PB. As far as I know .22 PB is bigger than .22 pellet barrel.

Update..
Well the barrel was finished and mounted on the gun a few days ago.
The bullets above were just a little too large and needed sized down thousandths of an inch
After sizing the bullets..they shot great, in my basement..at 11 yards.
Today, I went to a friends house that has a 150 yards.
Sighted in at 50 yards, group not great…1in or so. But, I can’t blame it on the gun.
The gun has a crapy 9x scope on it…at 50, I can’t see where the bullets are going.
I should have put the 6×24 on it..but did not.
The bullets did seem to fly straigher than the normal pellets.
The was about a 7mph wind today..I know with the Eddie, I would have had to compensate about 1/2 mil dot.
I put a pop can on a post at 110 yards and took 2 shots.
The first shot was low..it hit the 4″ wide post…2nd hit the pop can.
All in all it looks promising, more shooting and more playing needed.
I was shooting the with the reg-ed tank setup at about 750fps..to darn slow, but was looking for groups not power.
Verified that with the high power big tank..I can hit about 1000fps..but did not do it today.
Outta bullets, done for a week..
Knife is right…a 22lr barrel is a poor choice for this, as I only have a few choices of bullets..and they need sized down.
A .223,243,250,257..barrel would have been an easier way to go…plenty of bullets to choose from.or cast you own..
