Will This Work Safely?
I found this on the Marauder Forum. Is this safe? I have noticed that when I crack my tank valve, the pressure equalizes between the tank and the gun’s resivior and sits there. To increase pressure and volume in the gun’s tank, the valve needs to be opened more. It looks like it would work, but is it safe?

guido was selling an adapter for this I think.
If you ARE NOT using a reg’ on the scuba tank, make sure the scuba tank is AT, or BELOW your air rifle’s safe working pressure. Then there will be no probs, just like having a huge tank attached.
A reg’ inbetween the scuba and rifle is the ONLY way to go otherwise….
I’m with roachcreek this is what guido does….with one exception the fill probe on the m-rod does pose a risk of coming out of the gun and whipping arround till the tank pressuer drains down…. 😯 I have been working on a remote setup for mine so I can test new valve nods with out having to fill the af tank for just a couple of shots then drain it all off and repeat…so in short other than the risk of the fill probe whipping arround like a bat outta hell I think it would work as long as your tank didn’t exceed your guns working pressure..

Isn’t this what Guido does with his Talondore pistol in the Netherlands, but with a scuba tank?
I have wondered if it would work for sage rat hunting here in Oregon, where you sit in a field in a truck and shoot all day, occaisonally moving the truck to a new shooting area 400 yards at a time and shooting several hundred shots each location.
I wanted to do it by just hooking up to the etac on my air force rifle.
Walter would be the one to weigh in on this.
But it seems to me all you are doing is just piggybacking onto a larger tank, if you are using a scuba tank. If it was a 4500 carbon fiber tank I would think you would be in danger without a regulator.

Seems that guy is using a 80 cu ft steel tank with 2800 remaining psi through the fill port on his gun. Which equalizes the scuba tank and gun each shot.
each shot the air will run lower, and lower, such as 2800, 2780, 2760 and so on.
If the air in the scuba tank is 2800, the tank valve will be opened all the way. It would be unsafe to try and regulate the air with a scuba tank valve, say a scuba tank with a fill of 3200 psi or god forbid 4500psi air tank.
Seems safe too me, need more responses on this.

Ok, I just drained my SCBA tank down to the Leyla’s operating psi of 3,400
and connected it to the Leyla…. Shot about 30 shots and everything looks
great…. I have some pellet testing to do later and that is the way I am going
to do it…. It is a little bit awkward with the hose attached but no so much that
it causes even minor problems… Just don’t try to run off with the gun
connected….
