Here is a short clip comparing the effectiveness of the GTBJ shroud, with and without. .25 cal, 24″ barrel doing around 800fps, didn’t get the chrony out.

I’m probably going to catch hell for this but I had my friend shoot at me (well almost, about a foot high and a foot left) from about 10 yards away. The pellet flying past was WAY louder than anything else.
good point, and like I said the shroud works great, just trying to document for all the guys who don’t have one.

I have a GTBJ shroud, and am quite happy with it. I shoot from inside my garage alot and you will hear a pop (compared to a bang). But if you shoot outside it is very quiet, the pellet hitting the target is louder. I don’t think you could really judge the effectiveness of this shroud by testing indoors.
Nah man dont waste any money on a DB meter.
Those of us who have good shrouds know the story. Pellet noise is going to be louder than the rifle.

Well, now we aere on the subject, using my i-phone “sonic scan” app.,
which I have determined not too accurate, I am gonna post this anyway.
Basiacally, in a nut shell, the app. is a great idea, but not quite up to par.
I did a shot with nada, then with the dong, and a yel, gotta say the yel, I didn,t use the 3m wrap, actually just as effective as the dong.
I am gonna skate down to Radio Shack and see if they have a db meter, saw that they have one on line, cause in reality the cam does no justice.

Sounds alot like my vids. That ping is more noticable by the camera than by the ear. If you remove that “ping” from the vid, it sounds closer to the muffled shot.

Vids are always shit for comparing sound. Even so, you can definately hear a big difference between the two.

That un-shrouded Talon is seriously loud, wish I had a db meter, actually have one, I-phone app., but it isn’t shit.
Anyone here have a real db meter ?

In the second shot, it sounds to be a bit more of a metalic piiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiing and it seemed to last longer than the first shot…
ohhh yeah, i did not touch the PW same velocity.
