Q:

WOO HOO, Air Hog Condor(.22) ARRIVED, I’m Back in Black!!! :

Special Thanks to Van and Martin at Air Hog for putting this rig together for me! I’ve been debating a Condor ever since my “Airheads” shooting group started stocking up/showing up with Condors in .177, .20, .25, .223, etc.!!!

So I finally bit the bullet as I’ve had, and still own, a few Talons but never a Condor. Having a hunting trip coming up very soon, the time was now so I made the call. At first I was gonna go .25 but changed my mind last minute since accuracy wise, the .22 appears to hold the edge ever so slightly to the .25s from 50 yards on out.

The gun arrived today, started putting it together and realized the shroud is different from the Air Hog Shroud I had in the past, different end cap and having “windchimes inside of it” that make it staple gun quiet!!! 🙂

So I took out a scope I’d bought and left sitting and waiting for the right gun and this was it! A long range hunter/paper puncher/air sniper rig in the making!

The scope is a Tasco Custom Shop but not in the usual flavor of 10 – 40 or 10 – 50 power. This monster(it is much bigger than a 10 – 40 or 10 – 50 physically) is a 12 – 60 power scope with an added on Eric Sanders 6″ Sidwheel and A-Team Scope Knob(for the Bushnell 4200 and Bausch and Lomb scopes).

I was intending to put my Harris Bipod on it but forgot to order a Weaver Bipod Adapter(YHM-468) and Weaver to Dovetail Adapter beforehand. So I ordered the Bipod Adapter today and found a BKL Adapter in my stash as well, lol…

So for the mean time, I took some cheapie 1″ Scope Mounts, a section of 1″ Wood Dowel, an Uncle Mike’s Sling Stud Screw and a can of flat black spray paint and made a bipod mount in 20 minutes!!! 🙂

So here’s the new rig with the AH 5-shot accuracy test group at 25yards using the 18gr JSB Exacts…can not wait to get sighted in and take it to the Fun Shoot this weekend to get my clicks for out to 100yards!!! 🙂

When I get some solid testing, will report in detail, especially once the regulated CF Tank arrives for it!!! 🙂

Thanks again to those accuracy nuts at Airhog!!! 🙂

Regards,

Tony

Unfortunately no rebuild instructions, PA said it was really simple and self explanatory once you disassemble the pump and see the sequence of orings, etc.

Tomorrow I test it at 25 and 50 yds to figure out what pellet is best with that Condor Tank that is on it, Monday I order a sleeve of whatever pellets its likes!!!

I dig this gun, 18gr. Exacts are going super sonic with the Condor Tank but still cloverleafing at 25 yds., may have to try one of my Talon Tanks on it as well…

Yep, have high hopes for the regged Air Hog tanks, keepin’ fingers crossed!!!

Tony

Guess I’ll give the pump rebuild a try myself next time….
I didn’t find the 18.1gr as accurate as the 15.8…
I shot 4 tins of the 18’s and wasn’t happy.
I know a lot of people swear by the Kodiaks and the
JSB 18.1’s but man the 15.8’s just seem to be laser like
at any yardage and a flatter trajectory of course….
I broke out the Condor tank the other day. I had forgot
how badazz it is….
The Talon tank will give you some great speed and a
lot more shots…I can’t see needing my Condor tank
for anything other than excitement or really really
long shots…But it is still a push if it is slinging the
pellets over 1,100fps but, you know that already…
Condor tank should be good at long yardage with Eun Jins though….
I have collected so much stuff….I need to sell the stuff I am
not going to use…Gotta get off my butt…..
Post some results…..Will be interesting to see…

OMG I just came a lil bit! lol
Gun looks beautiful bud.

that keeps my guns filled! Definitely need to put the seals in though!!!

Hopefully the Airhog Regs are bombproof like their test unit!!! Mine should ship Monday so we shall see…

Tony

Do you have rebuild instructions? I had PA
rebuild it this time and I want to do it next
time….
I am hoping Airhog ships mine Monday too.
I think we are getting the first two to go out.
I agree, if these regs work like the test units
I will be on cloud 9…Can’t wait to punch some
paper at some crazy yardages…I am all stocked
up on JSB’s. Ordered 16 tins. Should be plenty
for testing…I was completely out for 2 days…
Not a good thing….
Did Airhog work the trigger group for you?
I did some polishing on my stock Condor and
it is a lot better…I also cut about an eighth off of
the spring for the sear that holds the hammer when
it is cocked. It reduces the
amount of pressure the sear has on the hammer when it
cocks and fires..Fells really smooth…
Anyway….Keep me up to date on your results.
Should be interesting…..

Yea, you better fix that compressor if
ya gonna test that Condor…
The regulator was still working,
it was just not consistant. JDSAirman says
he thinks it was bleeding up or leaking down or
something to that affect..Either way it sucked, so
hopefully he will get it right….And even if he doesn’t
I’ll have the Airhog as a backup…

Yep, I absolutely hate trying to chase the POI shift.
I am hoping this new setup will do what
they say it will do….Sent my last reg. back for
repair or replacement…
Did you rebuild the compressor yet?..
They are shipping my pump shaft back on Monday…
I’ll be handpump free soon….

😯

Thanks for reminding me, gotta dig it out from all the stuff piled on top of it!!!

I hope the regged CF tank is as advertised cuz if it performs like their testing unit, its gonna be the bomb!!! 😀 😀 😀 😀

Bummer to hear that other regged set up failed, how many shots did it last?

Chasing POI shifts is something I don’t deal with very well, LOL!!! 👿 😳

makes me wanna hold off on getting exact numbers for my clicks, but I do have enough room on the knob to run 2 sets of numbers…

Regards,

Tony

I agree…I gave up trying to figure anything out until
I am satisfied with a setup that is consistantly accurate….
Or until I give up tryin…lol

LOL, you’ve got it right, a rig’s gotta be consistently accurate, I’ve had pcps where they were ragged hole accurate at 25 yards but as you shoot each of the nine bullseyes on my targets, the POI would shift to another spot on the target!!!

I know guys that thought they bought the cat’s meow with full on tuned Steyrs only to realize that despite being regged, as the fill pressure dropped, like clockwork, the POI would shift to a predictable different location…they now shoot other guns, lol…
