Would it be stupid to buy this scope?

I’ll look at the MTC. I was always told a rule of thumb was to spend as much on optics as the gun itself. Anybody else heard of this “rule”?
That would be a heck of a lot of money to me also… supposed to be a cadillac scope though. I have some pricey rifles but have a hard time thinking of letting go of that much for a scope when $150 to $300 will buy a lot of scope. Have you looked at the MTC scope at AoA ? I think that will be my next scope purchase because of the reticle. Check it out if you haven’t already… lots more aim points that a regular reticle. I like to shoot long range and the reticle looks like it would be great for that.
