Q:

WTB?? Any recommendations??

Hi all Airforce Fans!

I Currently own a BAM50 in .177 that shoots JSB heavies(10.5gr) at about 24fpe. Thats about the max i will get with my current setup. I am interested in the Airforce series of rifles, but i dont know WTB.

I would like the following, so can you please tell me what you recommend. We are only allowed airrifles up to .20 in South Afica, so i must be content with this, although i would like one of the .25 Monters

1.) i want to be able to shoot JSb .20 at 33-35 fpe and get about 35-40 constant shots.
2.) I would like to do a quick switch to shoot.20 EJ 23.7gr at 50-60 fpe and still get 15-20 shots
3.) I would like to be able to do backyard plinking without my neighbour hearing my shots.(only necessary as last resort. most shots are used for hunting(80%), but i dont want to scare of the prey. We are allowed silencers in South Africa, so to a fit a slip-on or screw on silencer afterwards is not a problem. I hear Tony’s shrouds are virtualy silent!!!!!

Unfortunately i will have to import the SS and Condor version as they are not available locally. I can currently get my hands on a new 18″ talon in .177

What do you recommend?? Is there an”upgrade” for the Talon, or do you recommend another “chassis”

Thanks a lot so long.

Johan

Thanks for your input guys!

quote 30-06:

15-20 shots @ 55FPE is more than exceptable. I want about 35-40 shots with the “light 13.7gr pellets @35FPE. is that possible?

My talon with 24″ barrel is getting 38 fpe with 16gr pellets, for about 50 shots. I could easily see 35 fpe with lighter pellets.

Definately not. But when my condor was stock I could get 20ish shots with .22 eun jins at that speed. So 20-25 shots isn’t unreasonable.

You are not going to get 50-60 shots at that speed though.

Thanks Mr-lama!,. I gues it’s going te be a Condor then in .20

Most people think it’s cheaper and easier to go down. Easier to buy a condor and limit the power than get a talon and try and turn the power up.

To get 55fpe with the .20 eun jins they have to be going 1022fps. That’s moving out. Condor could do it though.

Do i need the Condor hiflow valve to get 50-60fpe with .20 EJ 23,7gr??
Do i buy a Condor with new high flow valve already installed and dial down to get 30-35 fpe with .20 13.7gr JSb OR buy Talon + 24inch barrel + high flow valve??. Which opton will be more cost effective? I have to import the rifles to South Africa, so buying once instead of 2 or 3 times will save a lot in Shipping.

Thanks
Johan

A talon with a 24″ barrel should get you your 35 fpe in .20 cal. You can buy some 1″ aluminum tubing and make a very effective shroud for about $10. Hope that helps.

Someone else had something kind of like this.

I think what you need is the talon or condor body, but get two tanks. Set one up for jsb’s and one up for eun jins. The guns aren’t adustable enough with just the power wheel to switch between jsb’s and eun jins like you want to.

Tony’s shroud will do the trick as far as quiet goes.
