Different subject, when EDguns reg goes south or in my case north what symptom is the most common? Mine was dialed in perfect at 930 and no all of a sudden it’s spraying @ 1060 and up!!! Is it so that the pressure on the regulated side increases with a faulty reg?

When the regulator bobbin o-rings went south on my .25 R3 single shot the first sign was the velocity dropping from 905 down to 840-850. About 25 shots later it jumped to 965. I was still out in the orchards so I kept shooting. After about 10 shots at 965 the o-rings started leaking bad enough the regulator wouldn’t seal and you could hear a faint hiss from the tiny bleed hole Ed drills on the bottom of main reservoir tube that’s located about mid length of the regulator, air was leaking past the bobbin o-rings into the center chamber of the regulator.

I disassembled the regulator after measuring the depth of the adjuster screw with a depth mic, replaced the o-rings on the bobbin (that holds the belleville spring washers), put it back together, and it was shooting at 912 fps.

The old bobbin o-rings looked fine with a visual inspection but the velocity and leak told a different story about their condition.

I’d disassemble the regulator and carefully inspect the o-rings, belleville washers, valve rod, valve rod spring, and the plastic button on the nose of the bobbin for any damage. If everything looks good put some new o-rings on the bobbin, reassemble with some good silicone grease on the o-rings, put a little silicone grease on the threads of the regulator segments (bare aluminum to aluminum threads can easily gall), and then test the rifle. If you set the regulator depth to the initial tuned position with a depth mic it should be very close to the correct velocity.

WOW that’s impressive ๐Ÿ˜ฏ

The rags are pulverized nothing but dust!

My highly educated quess : The reg has gone South – or in this case – North. ๐Ÿ˜ฅ

It was tuned to perfection before it started to behave like a pms crazed woman! And it’s not the cold weather either, tried it indoors and it does the same. But it’s kind of cool with an armor piercing airgun, even the shrapnel from the pellet impacts are lethal. If I ever summon the power to get my ass of the couch today I’ll take a picture of the cardboard box with some rags I thought would contain the residue of the pellets after impact with 1″ of steel, it’s cut in half!…

I’m sure Ernest will chime in if he has time, usually when the first shot is higher or lower than the rest it’s from the HS adjustment not being in balance with the reg setting and or the main valve spring preload setting. Ernest has a post somewhere on this —–> http://www.network54.com/Forum/79537/thread/1379252779/Kalibrgun+barrels.+Pellets+lubed+or+unlubed–+%28also…Kalibrgun+Rifle+teardown%29

Pulled the reg and everything looked ok except from an oddly shaped oring or two ๐Ÿ˜‰
Took the opportunity to polish the disc springs when I had them out if it makes a difference? Don’t know but it felt good.
Shit! Just remembered I forgot to inspect the HP seat… Well if it doesn’t work now I have at least one more thing to try to get it working as it should

Cool. Even my AR400 plate gets some dimples from a 22-250 at 20 yards. ๐Ÿ˜€

Hopefully it’s just an oring leak.

I think it’s leaking thru from high to regulated side because it starts hot then it slows down next few shots. Now I have use for my new degas tool and oring collection ๐Ÿ˜‰

Hopefully, by the way this is a 1″ steel plate I used for backstop when testing. There are shallow indents in it

Hard to say, third owner I think, and it has been “used” so I guesstimate it to around 8-10k.

Dr. ๐Ÿ‘ฟ

No way in hell it has that many shots thru it. Add 2000 shots to those youยดve shot with it and you get the correct amount.

Hopefully it’s just an oring leak.

Seems logical if the B Springs fail. How many shots on the gun?
