When you go to Angeles Range, you make the left off of the highway and go up the road. The first right that you can make is the camp. I’ve made that mistake, ooopps. But if you go straight, it takes you to the rifle/pistol rang on the right, and Moore and Moore Sporting Clay Range on the left. Angeles has built a small building between the two that is a reloading store. I haven’t been there in years, but I tink that it is still there. Between gas prices and good internet deals, I order my stuff and let someone else do the driving, (delivery that is).
I had forgotten about the “Waystation”. I have never been there so I’m not exactly sure where it is. Lions, tigers and bears, oh my!
And don’t forget the Wildlife Way Station. Never knew about the detention camp. No one has suggested the fire started because of any firearms, but only that the fire may have started in the area the range is at. I still don’t know if they have any concrete conclusions on how, or where it started exactly. They did use the word ‘suspicious’ a couple days ago.
Yep, there is a range over there…there is also a boys detention camp…but nobody mentioned that. I can’t understand how a shooting range that is closed at 02:30 started a fire?

I don’t know for sure, but somebody told me the fire started right around where the range is. hope it’s OK. Maybe I’ll give a call there 2moro.

I remember last decent sized fire we had here, wind shifted one night, and walked out to go hunting the next morning and it was so thick it was hard to breath. I though the woods behind my house were on fire, didn’t realize it was almost a whole state over. Scary stuff.

Anyone know if the shooting range is closed?
I live about in between where biken lives, and where the fire started. It started in Kagel Canyon, about 10 min from me. I have several freinds that live there, amazingly none of them lost there homes. I could easily see the mountains of black smoke from my back yard, early yesterday morning. They all had to evacuate. Two people died, surprised more didn’t. I’m wondering if the rifle range took some damage, I heard it started around there. Anyways, this pic isn’t very dramatic, but I took this with my camera phone later in the day from my backyard as the fire was getting better. Really should have took a shot earlier. I am like 10 miles away, but I can smell that ash in the air. The wind actually blew my pellet trap and shooting bench over 👿 :18
Hi TM, Funny that you should ask. Last night I noticed that the ridge Southwest of me was glowing orange. Then not to long after that flames could be seen. The wind was blowing away from me, but fire goes where the fuel is. L.A. County, and L.A. City Fire departments did a great job and kept the fire on the other side of the ridge. That ridge is about two miles away. That may seem like a long ways off, but when the wind shifts, all bets are off.
It is like having an air show in my own backyard. Super Scoopers, Hueys, Blackhawks, Sky Cranes, other fixed wing aircraft from the California Dept. of Forrestry…it’s all good. Those guys have been doing a great job. I am very fortunate, this time, as the smoke has been blowing away from my house.

I’m checkin in. Fire is not but a few miles from me. Everything is all good though. MONDAY, the sky was red and the winds were comparible to a hurrican at my house. The was a lot of ash in the air monday. But today seems to be a lot better.

I’m startin’ to feel cold down here Trigger. I think I’m gonna head up north and sit near the fire.

last night I saw on the news that there is one burning some were just north of S.F. but of course the gave no details. perhaps you could be “eye witness news”
