Zeroing a Talon and scope height
Anyone that has been following my drivel lately knows that I have a new talon, also I’m temporarily stuck shooting in an apartment, and incidently, the furthest I can shoot is on 6 yards.
The scope on the talon sits 3.5″ CL to CL above the barrel, so obviously it can’t be zeroed at only 6 yards. WHAT IS A GOOD ZERO FOR THIS THING? I’m guessing that a 30 yard zero would cover me well from 15 yards to 40+; but I want to know from experience what other airforce guys are doing.
I think I’ll zero the laser at 10 yards, it sits only 1.5″ above the barrel.
On another topic, I put a CO2 tank on mine, and that’s how I want to shoot it typically, though I’ll use 200BAR air from time to time also. Shown here is the rifle w/20oz CO2 tank and neoprene jacket. 8) The paint ball store will fill it for $1 for the life of the tank because I bought it there.

Yep, going to use 10 yards for the laser and 20yards for the scope based on using the CO2 which is supposed to give 610fps. I dial it out an extra 5 yards each when using 3000psi air at 750fps.
Should give me +/- 1/2″ on anything out to 40 yards, which is all the further I shoot, usually.
Jay (thank you for the Avatar resize) a good program to use it Chairgun, which can be found Here. If you download it and then plug in all of the variables it will give you all of the information you require, such as expected pellet drop at various distances. That being said, I always think that 20 Yards is a good starting point.

i tried sixteen
this gave me about one inch high @ 35 yds, spot on @ 50
jsb’s exact jumbo’s around 800 fps, .22 ss w/shrp’s mods

i wanted zero @ 50 but since you mentioned 40 yards, may just wanna zero in there, and see where the bullet path lies @ say, 5, 10, 20, and 20 yds

I think I’ll start with 10 yards for the laser and 20 yards with scope. I plan to use it with CO2 for a while and that should cover my typical distances.
zero’ed initinally for 28 yards but found this left me about 1.5-2 inches low @ 48yards

I zero at 20 yards, which puts me no more than 1″ hight or low from 15 yards to 65 yards.
