You should be able to get a 3500psi tank for about that price. Mine is a steel 3500 psi that is normally filled to 4000psi. Steel tanks are safer to over fill cause they don’t stretch as much as aluminum. Aluminum might be lighter, but the extra psi will fill your gun a bunch. Do not get a 3000psi tank as the gun fills to that. Every fill…Read more

I’m pretty sure that cutting the hammer down increses the speed at which it travels also. By being shorter it has further to go compared to what it was. I would rather cut mine down then drill holes in but I have no lathe to cut it down.

What did you think of my idea to increase valve return spring strength to bring the curve upwards in…Read more

Rusty,

You are working on the same thing I am trying to do. What was your main reason for cutting the hammer shorter? Less weight? Or are you trying to get a bit more speed from the spring (longer distance to travel)?
I was thinking of drilling a few holes in the hammer to reduce weight. I charted your 2nd to last string but am trying to…Read more

Having read a lot of posts over the years about the AF guns, it seems that the older ones – pre mid year 2005 did not have the problems with shooting a full 3000psi fill with the valve/hammer setup it came with. I bought mine in new in 2004 and after eliminating the hammer chatter it would shoot at a 3100psi fill and a pw setting of 10 with no…Read more

T’s right….when my TSS was stock, it was getting about 775fps with JSB’s and a pw setting of 10. With a 18″ barrel and JSB’s, (same pw setting) it was getting an average of about 850fps. Both these were run at a fill of 3000psi with the stock hammer. A heavier hammer with an agressive tophat setting can boost these numbers a bit. I now have…Read more

One other thing you might look at is the pw setting. With a fill of 2800psi, I need to have my pw setting atleast at 8 or higher. The lower pw settings with this high of a fill can cause those “duds”. With my pw on 10, I can fill it to 3100psi and get all solid hammer hits – no duds.
