Yes it is a hammer hitting the valve open there is no spring that returns the valve the pressure in the tube does that. Man to be honest with you this 40 cal is turning out to be very nice I think with the new twist that we talked about it will go over the 1000 FPS with a 230 grainer making for a flatter shooting rifle than our 45 project. From 50 to 75 yards there is about .750 of an inch diffrence in hiegth. 1000 FPS will put this little 40 at 510 FPE.

I will post pics when I figure out how to put them on here. 25 yard shot double lung the deer ran about 100 yards with a nice blood trail easy recovery and the most important thing ethical quick kill.
