I believe that airforce guns have a type 3 hard anodized coating. With the materials that you would have access to you would most likely be applying a type 2 anodized coating. Type two is much thinner and less durable than the type 3 that has already been applied. A type 2 anodized coating is really only used to hold a dye on the aluminum, and is…Read more

I tend to prefer Aluminum because of the more durable quality appearance. In my oppinion the carbon fiber just seems to be plastic and looks out of place on a rifle. I think that aluminum just has that durable metal appearance that I don’t need to worry about damaging. I wonder how the carbon fiber would be mounted, and how it would hold up to basic abuse.

I have been trying a new technique that has really been working for me, I push down full speed on the first half of the stroke and rely on that inertia to complete the stroke. I was a bit confused though because it took 75 strokes to bring my disco from 1000psi to 2000psi, not the advertised 35. Perhaps it will just require a break in period.

I have two falcons that visit regularly, perhaps I will have some help disposing of the tree rat that’s eating my house, I just need a shroud for my Disco so that the neighboors won’t call the police.

My Disco is LOUD, I’m currently waiting on a Don G. shroud to keep it neighboor friendly. Once I get the shroud and sight it in I’ll have some tests of what a .22 Predator will do to the huge tree rat that’s eating my house. 😈 Maybe if I thin…Read more

I did not know how to post pictures when I first wrote this article, so here they are now. The gel was shot with a pumpmaster 760 (seriously don’t laugh, that all I had when I did the tests several months ago) The angle is bad so the measurements appear off in the picture. The shallowest pellet is a wadcutter shot from 35 feet, all of the other…Read more

I noticed that you were using duct seal for both penetration and expansion testing, duct seal being much more dense than ballistics gel or animal tissue will result in flattened or separated pellets like the ones you ended up with. Ballistics gel can easily be made from knox unflavored gelatin. one cup of water per ounce of gelatin.
