Thanks for taking the time to post all of that, Hoot! It’s very interesting stuff. My, oversimplistic, take on the mushrooming/expansion aspect of this is that it’s a lead alloy issue. H&N makes these too hard to expand properly at 1000fps or so. They need to back off on tin or add pure lead to the mix. I won’t be buying any more of these unless…Read more

I decided to shoot a 31.02 gr Grizzly pellet through a milk jug filled with water, lengthwise, to see if it would expand at 1103 fps, it did not expand at all at 1039 fps. Here’s the result of that test:

Here’s the current state of this Microlite Bullpup:

I put on the 4500psi tank, a cheap Chinese valve that I modded to “direct flow” and so far it has been filled to 3500psi. Wow! That is so much nicer than the laminated, to me. I wonder what that stock would look like if there was no gap between the tank and the wood, full tank support. It looks very fragile to me as it is, like it wouldn’t survive a hard drop. Very nice craftsmanship, nevertheless!

Yes, things are looking up! Lots of shots per fill, now. At PW-4*1, with 31 grain pellets, the first few shots are averaging right at 1000fps. I’ll try to do a full string sometime, but I needed to get outside and shoot before it got too dark. Ok, I decided to cut the .20 cal barrel back to 15 5/8″ so that it all fits inside the Talon-P frame. This allows about 1″ or so of space from the endcap. I don’t know how I got it in my head that the H&N Grizzly pellets were supposed to weigh 30 grains, but indeed they are supposed to weigh 31 grains. I just weighed 5 random pellets ..30.84, 31.1, 30.55, 31.175 and 31.1. I added 11 more Grizzly pellets and 16 of these weighed 496.34 grains. The air from the 9-slots on the new barrel mount overcomes the spring and powerwheel, using the rubber washer as a seal, I believe. The next thread to yours “microlite bullpup kit”, in that kit the barrel bushing holes are too shallow for the Talon-P screws. I thought about it. The original Talon-P barrel is 12mm diameter. The 24″ barrel is 16mm diameter. So the 24″ barrel bushing holes are probably not as deep as the Talon-P barrel bushing holes? And the Talon-P frame to bushing screws are too long?

The screws are 10-32 size. What exactly is the problem? I also have a Talon-P and I have a 24″ barrel on it’s way to me, now. If someone else does not help you before I get my new barrel and figure out what you mean by “doesn’t fit my new bushing” (24″ barrel bushing), then I’ll reply with more detail.

I took my gun apart last night, as I’m having some kind of valve problem. When I put it back together I decided to really try to get the tank on tightly at the spinloc collar. Viola! No more play in the rear end of the gun. Please, disregard my rant above, as it now is obvious that I didn’t put this gun together correctly.

Yes, the quick change tophat will work for you. As I understand it though, you need to be careful about buying 3rd party hammers because there was a frame size change (old style/new style) and that they’re not compatible.
