I’d love a Swarovski or a Schmidt & Bender, but a Nikko Stirling or a Leapers have served me very well. The reason for many of these high priced optics is that eventually, someone is going to be trusting their lives to them.

Hey knifemaker, if you’re hunting from a stand, you can always do preset calculations by ranging and correcting before the hunting season, using landmarks like specific rocks or trees and drawing a picture of your field of view and writing in the appropriate distances in your field book. Should make your estimation faster.

Well, while the effect may be that the POI is high, there’s a lot of geometry involved. It all happens because the effect of gravity is based on the horizontal distance the projectile travels, not the angled hypotenuse of the triangle formed between you and the target.

I don’t dislike iron sights. I always believe they should be available for use in case the optic goes down (red dots lose battery, glass gets cracked), but then again, I don’t expect my airguns to be like my powder burners, so I’m OK with just a scope on my TSS.

That said, that is one sweet peep there Rowdy.

For the kind of accuracy a Talon or Condor is capable of, the iron sights aren’t precise enough to take full advantage. Even if you’re a pro 10 meter competitor, the iron sights have a lot to be desired. I think you really need a peep sight anyway.

Jason,

Still running my Talon SS/24″ and a TX200, but it’s been a while since I’ve gotten them out and shooting, since I’m in an apartment and have no land 🙁

Powder wise I’m running a Remington 700 .30-06 and a DPMS 5.56 AR-15.

So now I gotta start digging through the site and see what’s new in the Talon world!

You still around CT these days? We should go find some place to go shooting. I ended up buying a couple of powder burners, but ammo is so damn expensive since Uncle Sam is buying all of it. It’d be nice to get back to some air power and cheap ammo!
