I would think with the low speeds 1/7 would be even better. They use those in .223 to stabilize the long bullets….so for sure they would work at airgun velocities.

I don’t have a chrono yet, but for sure there is less dead space/wasted air.

The only downside is that getting the pellets in is a little more fiddly, and the really long slugs would be a no go.

I adjusted my hammer so there is no breech movement then added a rubber bushing behind the tophat to reduce valve travel. I hate the idea of the tophat smashing against the brass with each shot, plus I can just use shim washers behind the rubber bushing to fine tune things.

Green Mountain also has really low cost 1:7 twist bull barrels, but they will need some serious machining to fit in an airforce gun. Does anyone have a clue why such slow twist rates are STILL used in air rifles? 1:16 is just way too slow.
