I used some .975″ diameter x 2″ long springs (weak hammer springs cut down) and some 1″ washers or bushings, similar to your setup and it works great. I had problems with the washers tipping and getting clipped (probably from my less than square spring ends), so wound up with 1″x3/8″x3/8″ bushings available from lowes.

OK after much, much testing and experimenting. I reasoned out that the valve spring have very little if any impact on speed or response to pressure in the tank. The initial air pressure applies over 100 lbs of force on the valve seat, so an 8 lb spring is pretty negligible. I did pickup several sets of springs to experiment with. Changing…Read more

Pump arrived today – it is a Hill MK2 by all reckoning. All of the literature says Hill.

Anyway, I pumped up my tank to 2100 psi and tried some shots – 400 fps (PW at 6). PW 10 = 484 fps. Note that this is a used Talon SS that had been mod’d to a condor. I took it back to stock last night and everything looked good. I was tried adjusting…Read more

I ordered a BSA/Hill pump from Midway for 176 (189 delivered). I could not afford the shoebox. Besides, everyone says I need exercise. I have two tanks, so I plan to fill in my spare time. What is the typical fill pressure with a hand pump?. I know it can go 3000 psi, but with the Talon SS I thought 2400 psi would be better.

thanks!

I will get the tank hydro’d before I use it, but it should be ok. It was kept semi-filled (1000psi) and dry. What is the typical fill pressure range for the AF tank?

Would a hill pump be out of the question – ala 100 pumps for 6 shots.

Thanks,

I pulled apart my CO2 adapter and got a look at what the real spring and O-rings should be. I think I should be able to locate these at Lowes no problem. The TT tune and repair on the valve would be $75 – a bit more than I want to spend at the moment.

I got the rifle today – the tank was still charged from the previous owner – so got to pull…Read more

Ok, pulled the valve apart last night on the spare tank. The plastic valve seal was stuck midway in the spring. Looks like the spring is too big and weak to work. Plus I think the seal was backwards, as well. Does the top hat stem fit into the cup of the plastic seat? Where do I get the spring and a new plastic cup?. The valve is the old…Read more
