Checkering is not hard, especially a straight pattern like on .45 grips. Good tools are a pleasure to use, do a better job, and last a lifetime. Be sure and practice some on scrap. My SY 909s shoots them poorly and I suspect the rate of twist is wrong. I believe that sabots have the most potential for bigbore airguns due to low friction and good sealing.
