									<content:encoded><![CDATA[<p>A 100fpe .25 shooting heavy slugs will have plenty of energy remaining at 100 yards to kill dogs.  Slugs don&#8217;t lose energy near as fast as pellets.  You can find pics on this site of 100 yard shots with .25 slugs completely flattening themselves on impact.</p>

Knife shot tiny groups with a stock barrel (18&#8243; I seem to recall).  Tofazfou shot good groups and even better ones after cutting off the choke.</p>

I know LW had a quality issue but I had hoped they were over it.  Slugging a barrel isn&#8217;t hard, owners should learn what they have.</p>

<p>I never measured the hardness as we always made the slugs with near pure lead.  We used dead soft lead (in the end we used rotometals to avoid shipments of contaminated lead) and just a little tin to help the lead &#8220;wet&#8221; the mold. The sharp point works well at supersonic speeds but does not help at subsonic where a decent ogive is best.  Just look at the old A-6, what an ugly aircraft (if you&#8217;re into pointy fighters) but extremely aero-efficient.</p>

I used to be able to consistently recommend to customers they buy their slugs sized to .251 if they had a LW barrel.  Now, I have to consistently recommend they slug the bore.</p>

I&#8217;ve gone out a bunch of times and shot enough that my shroud was covered in condensation as the barrel and shroud were cold from shooting so much.  Ambient air is in there when you start shooting and is free to enter between shots. <p>I doubt the vapor trails were from lube blowing off the bullet.  I expect you just happened to be shooting when the conditions were right for &#8220;vapes,&#8221; that&#8217;s a term we use in aviation when trails will form off Hornet wingtips even during low G flight and they blow off rotor tips etc.</p>

									<content:encoded><![CDATA[<p>I think the whole bipod vs. rest controversy will never end.  I say that because I have a gun that will shoot ever so tiny groups off the bipod when set to low power but needs to be rested to get the best results when set to high power.</p>
