So this saga continues, stopped making pressure again. Well number three rings didnt hold too long, changed material and now am waiting for new valve springs to arrive.
Hopefully I can get the parts asap and get the pump going again.

What a hell, where do you put oil in a booster? I’m speechless here, cant figure a one single place in my booster that I could put oil in.

Buy couple of 5k psi disks from paintball shop an use one of those, I’m pretty sure its a material error in your disks you have.
And what ever parts the dealer is willing to ship accept them, I’m not so sure about buying some other brand, you have sorted some of the weak points on yours.

What if second brand isn’t any better?

I’m a regular compressor nut, everyone of these compressor threds are interesting and are followed even if I dont intend to buy one.
Great review so far. What I’m interested is the long term usage how will it cope with that.

Yeah sure.
Quality is ok(ish) you just need to deburr the O-ring grooves for they are very sharp and will eventually cut the rings.
Did hold ok in hydro test, no drama and no deformation of any kind.
Filter is a bit small considering how much molecularsieve it holds but other than that its ok.

So yours is definetly dead. You should contact af on that matter. See what they say about it.

Back on track again, mill spindle needed some servicing so that was the holdup, conrod ready, now just need to make the piston and we are ready for season start finally.

Well its a shop compressor hack so you need some work with it. But any way you look at it with all its down sides it still beats pumping by a long shot right?
Respect the machine what it is, add a filter and be happy, don’t try to pretend what it is not. Its not a bauer or coltri, but hey you didnt spend 2-3k for it either.

Well i would like to see the material thickness on the separator for one and overall build quality. Maybe some sampling of the oil water mix on a white rag to see how the separator is going by its busines.
I’m not buying one i have a booster and compressor but for science and so on.

It’s like af put a spring in there to be used with much more bigger gun than the stock condor. You can clip the spring and get more adjustability out of it. And the spring doesn’t cost so much in the first place so no much harm there if you decide you once more need the factory spring preload.

Thanks, hardened the cylinder today, and just realized I forgot to drill the side air passage to the cylinder. Guess I have to use carbide endmill to drill the hole now.
It turned out pretty hard, normal metal file can’t touch it.

Yeah, fragments and very small at that. The piston stump hit the cylinder on down stroke and stopped the pump from 1800rpm.
Cylinder is a write off, it has a hairline crack in it.
42crmo4 barstock arrived yesterday so I’ll be making new piston and cylinder as well.

Well yeah, ouch. Obviously the piston didn’t like me cutting ring grooves on it, it was too hard material and snapped from the bottom groove.
Oh well, need to turn new piston from 42crmo4 harden it and coat it like the first time, lapping it to the cylinder and not cutting ring grooves. Need to make new rod from 7075 but that’s no problem.

No one should try to use the valves and should degas the guns and remove the valves.

I have gotten some information about the valves and it is possible there is a safety issue within the valve frame, valve thread to the tank is m18x1.5 and it smallest diameter is 15.78mm from root of the thread.
There is valve pocket drilling inside that reach m18 thread area and that is 14.78mm

So is the air circulating via all those pipes and cooling between stages? If so then it’s pretty clever design. Purging often enough and adding desiccant filter to output should get you pretty ok dry air.
Simple and effective, I like it.

Nice, and as always you are taking it to the extreme level of things. But as you already stated why bother adding more bleed points on e grade filteration system, I think the stock bleed valves are sufficient for you.
Price isn’t all that bad including shipping.

It does resemble the nimrod compressor quite a bit. Let’s hope that they have upgrade internals running in that one, and they honor any warranty given!
Nothing worse than 1200$ paperweight.
Time shows the one of these that will be good and the bad, they are all mostly ugly.

Any ISO VG 195 oil will do, coltri oil is cheaper but if you can’t find it then Bauer or other name brand.

Take it apart again, take time and layout all the parts on a clean lint free cloth and clean and inspect them one by one for signs of wear. And if in doubt post a pictures and folks here can assist you evaluating what’s what.

Or coltri ce750, any ISO VG 195 Will do and you don’t pay for the Bauer logo 😉
No point on using something generic compressor oil, it’ll be more expensive in the long run.
Changing oil more frequent will save you money in the long run also, it doesn’t turn black when starting to loose lubricative abilities so don’t be looking for that. If…Read more

Ok so had little problem, it wasn’t the fourth that was giving me grief, third had a two broken piston rings, and the C expander springs had scratched the cylinder slightly, turned it in the lathe to 19.05mm and made new oversized rings out of teflon. Let’s see how long it lasts. It got only 0.05mm bigger so nothing major.

Maybe they think that the tampon attracts enough of the moisture to worry about desiccant.
No cooling coil between the stages that’s a big minus on my book. One unit reviewed and that’s all we know, even nimrod got lucky with couple of units so only time will tell how bad or good this is.

Coming from car world being a mechanic you got me, cylinder head would have been the term I would have used.
So there may have been issue with headgasket otherwise they wouldn’t have change it.

It was entertaining to read, by the looks of it it’s just another version of the same family. They just used carbonfiber looking parts to hide the compressor parts from view.
The crankcase looks pretty same as nimrodairs. And that fill whip looks dead cheap.
Lookin this and knowing what’s inside the carrette, you know my point.
