<p>To get rid of the smeared chips, try making your last pass as a &#8220;climbing&#8221; pass, cutting about 2 thou.  Makes all the difference in surface finish.</p>

<p>Maybe there is a setting to not show pictures on your browser (IE or Firefox)?  That might work too.</p>

									<content:encoded><![CDATA[<p>Never heard of a PCP dieseling.  Especially if you lube the hammer and the bore it rides in.  If you put a bit in the breech block, would it diesel?</p>
<p>You want a dry film lube in the bore, or nothing at all.  The hammer on most has delrin ends on it, which is slick plastic.  I use a dry teflon lube.  It dries white in a real thin layer.</p>

They should be standard, non-metric sizes.  It&#8217;s a 10-32.  Takes a 3/32&#8243; Allen wrench.  You&#8217;re mainly interested in the correct length.  On the sides, the back end should be flush with the outer housing of the main body tube.  The bottom ones really don&#8217;t matter so long as they don&#8217;t go past the threads. 									<content:encoded><![CDATA[<p>I use really fine diamond files with isopropyl alcohol.  Also hard arkansas whet stones like you&#8217;d sharpen a knife with.<br />
Time, patience, keeping it square, and not changing angles is what makes it work.<br />
I also polish with a buffing wheel an jeweler&#8217;s rouge to make it really shiny.</p>

<p>It is .005&#8243; larger than my .177 barrel I took out.<br />
0.488 vs. 0.483 inches.</p>
<p>I wouldn&#8217;t have noticed, but my custom Delrin hammer is made to ride on the barrel OD, and it wouldn&#8217;t fit. <p>Above is a 1-1/16 &#8211; 32 tap from MSC.  It&#8217;s close to $75 though.<br />
The ID of the frame is a hair over 1&#8243; and varies.</p>
<p>Also, keep in mind the frame is anodized.  Although thin, it is still a very hard layer and will wear out your tap quickly.</p>

<p>On the setscrews, have you tried to run them in, now that it isn&#8217;t on the tube?  Maybe the threads are fuggered at the back end and they might go in the rest of the way and fall through.  Then, you could chase it with a 4-40 tap.</p>

You need to put some junk in the tube and it will be a lot more neighbor friendly.  The TSS has about 6&#8243; of &#8220;useable space&#8221; ahead of the barrel.  That&#8217;s a lot to work with for starters&#8230;</p>

They&#8217;d have to be very fine threads, so a tap might be pricey.<br />
You could turn it in a lathe, but you would have a bitch of a time trying to get the whole frame in your lathe, and centered.  My lathe wouldn&#8217;t be even close to big enough.<br />

<p>If you add any grease or other lube to the hammer, it will vary velocity a lot.</p>
<p>Any time I&#8217;ve had velocity changes, it was usually because the hammer wasn&#8217;t all the way back.  I also had issues with the breech knob binding in the slot before I made a new one.</p>

You might want to give it a try next time. </p>
<p>Your groups look outstanding for 100 yards though!  I can keep dime size only to 50-60 yards, but that&#8217;s the edge of my back yard anyway.  A little coffee and the groups open up!</p>
