Just got a 457 Texan LSS and am almost afraid to open it up for cleaning and lube.  Any good disassembly vids out there?

What is recommended to clean the barrel with that won’t damage the o-rings/seals?

Also is anyone using oil or lube on the bullets?

This thing is fun and want to keep it that way.

The barrel is a 24″ I got.from Tony some years ago. I chopped the choke off and recrowned it. Polished the bore with Flitz. Just over 22″ now and shoots great.

I check in from time-to-time nowhere near as often as I used to the site is blocked with my at-work firewall.

Most of the time I am checking to see how big the ball of yard got, and how long the rubber bands have been stretched.
Not too much Oscar-Mayer-Bullshit these days. LOL

For future work, get yourself a piece of PVC tube. Slide it over the barrel down to the bushing and use it to push the barrel into place.
Much easier and no possibility of damaging the crown.

Thats the first custom bolt idea Ive seen for that feature. Looks nice.

Place them on a sheet of glass/mirror alonside a straight-edge. Let them roll slowly across the glass and mark where they reach the other side.

Consistent skirt/head diameters will reveal themselves.

Frame-flex causes major issues with new-to-AF shooters. Ergonomics just plain suck.
Learn the quirks and adjust shooting habits and its a non-issue.
Use a Maddog stock or similar, and most of that flex is eliminated.

Opening the baffles up is not.

Alignment is key to accuracy with a shroud. Even after you open up the holes, the bullet/pellet is closer on one side and could still be upset by pressure imbalance.

I know you cant fix a Cricket that way though. You guys spend a lot on perceived betterness, you better achieve nirvana first shot or I’d be pissed too.

Sounds like right about 2 seconds flight time for 1506 feet. Those slugs perform quite well.

Just glue the stuff together and rough sand it with a dremel. You might end up liking it and keep it, I did. 😉
