None of those Gen 1 devices are worth a damn without a really bright IR illuninator, or better yet…TWO really bright IR illuminators.

PS: A good IR laser or tac light will extend its range by quite a bit. That Gen 1 stuff can’t pick up starlight well at all, but with a good IR light, or a tac light with an IR filter on it, you can reach out a pretty good distance!
