<p>First, I agree with your assessment of why the 22LR did not have a higher energy.  Please forgive me if what I am about to say is common knowledge.</p>
<p>In general, heavier pellets have more energy because they are in the barrel for a longer period of time.  During that extra time energy is being transferred to the pellet by the HPA.</p>

<p>Sounds like the way they load the tins to cause damage in the center.  I would not like the job of loading soft lead pellets without damage.  How do you do that?  The Crossman premiers are over 600 to the box.</p>
