<p>I have only cleaned my Benchmark 22 competition airgun barrel once with a wire brush.  It was on a swivel rod and I was super careful not to be too aggressive.  I wrapped a small patch around it so I could see if and when I had removed any type of lead build up from the bore.</p>

In order to remove the baffles you need to unscrew the tension nut off the end of the barrel.<br />
Once that nut is removed then the barrel is free floating from the action to it&#8217;s business end.</p>
